On the evening of August 14th, at the City Theater, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, and Ho Chi Minh City Television jointly organized a special art program titled "Composer Phan Huynh Dieu - Love Remains."

Composer Phan Huynh Dieu was born on November 11, 1924, in Dien Ban, Quang Nam province, and passed away in 2015. He was one of the most prominent and influential composers of contemporary music, leaving a profound mark through his timeless musical works. He was known as "the golden bird of Vietnamese music."
Composer Phan Huynh Dieu is known to music lovers through many famous revolutionary songs that have stood the test of time. His compositions not only reflect revolutionary history but also evoke love for the homeland and country, such as: "Life Is Still Beautiful," "March of Day and Night," "Liberation Army" (now the National Guard )... The song "National Guard," with its heroic and powerful melody, has become a musical symbol, closely associated with the glorious history of the Vietnamese nation.
Besides his revolutionary musical compositions, music lovers also remember this talented musician for his sweet love songs. Perhaps it was his childhood, intertwined with the folk melodies and smooth chants of Quang Nam province, that shaped him into the musician he is today.
In his artistic endeavors, composer Phan Huynh Dieu constantly gathered and collected musical materials deeply rooted in the cultural and artistic identity of various regions, from North to South, from mountainous areas and plateaus to riverine and delta regions. When his heart found a fresh inspiration, he created melodies that resonated with countless generations, such as: "Love in a Letter," "The Night Stars," "You're at the Beginning of the River, I'm at the End," "Threads of Memory, Threads of Affection," "Boat and Sea," etc.
The musician is optimistic and loves life.
After more than 80 years dedicated to musical composition, the late composer Phan Huynh Dieu bequeathed hundreds of valuable works of art to the world. He is remembered by music lovers as a timeless composer, and his music, regardless of the era, remains beautiful, full of emotion, life, faith, and optimism for a bright future, just like the soul of the composer himself.
During his lifetime, he once said: "I only compose music when I feel happy and optimistic, because I want to convey that to the listeners. Melodies never stop playing in my head, and love never stops in my heart. Now that I'm old and no longer have a lover, I love life, I love nature..."
For him, no matter what life throws at us, we must maintain a positive spirit, directing our hearts towards joy, so that each day becomes more meaningful, beautiful, and valuable, because "Life is still beautiful. Love is still beautiful!...".
With his entire life dedicated to musical composition, composer Phan Huynh Dieu's immense contributions to national art have been recognized by the State and he has been awarded the Third-Class Independence Medal, the First-Class Resistance Medal, the First-Class Anti-American Medal, and the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Art.
The special art program "Composer Phan Huynh Dieu - Love Remains" not only brings his valuable musical works closer to the people and younger generation in Ho Chi Minh City, but also aims to create opportunities for the public and young audiences to explore more deeply the glorious revolutionary history of the nation through music, contributing to the awakening of profound patriotism among all strata of the people.
The music of Phan Huynh Dieu - Love Remains will feature performances by artists such as People's Artist Tuyet Mai, Meritorious Artist Van Khanh, Meritorious Artist Khanh Ngoc, singers Hoang Bach, Quang Linh, Ho Trung Dung, Nguyen Phi Hung, Giang Hong Ngoc…, sand painting artist Tri Duc, saxophone player Pham Nguyen, Lac Viet group, Truc Xanh folk music band…
The artists will perform representative songs by composer Phan Huynh Dieu, such as: At Both Ends of Nostalgia, Betel and Areca, The Shadow of the Kơ-nia Tree, You Are at the Beginning of the River, I Am at the End of the River, The National Guard, Threads of Memory, Threads of Love, March of Day and Night, Where Are You Tonight, Love Poem at the End of Autumn, Boat and Sea, The Stars of the Night…
