The Vietnamese Embassy in Iran organized a seminar on “80 years of Vietnamese Diplomacy for Peace and Development”. |
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (1975–2025) and towards the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1945–2025) on May 7, 2025, at the National Defense Museum of Iran, Tehran, the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran held a seminar "80 years of Vietnamese Diplomacy for Peace and Development".
The seminar was attended by more than 70 guests from the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Iranian Defense Museum, the Tehran City Council and universities, scholars, businesses, and representatives of the Vietnamese community living and studying in Iran.

After the delegates experienced many emotions before the authentic images from the 14-minute documentary film about 80 years of heroic history of building and defending the Fatherland of Vietnam, Ambassador Nguyen Luong Ngoc gave a speech reviewing the important role of Vietnamese diplomacy through the country's major historical events, from the early difficult days of protecting the young independence of 1945-1946, to the signing of the Geneva Agreement in 1954, the negotiation and implementation of the Paris Agreement in 1973, the general offensive and uprising in the Spring of 1975.
After the country's reunification, Vietnamese diplomacy made an important contribution to renewing foreign policy thinking and breaking the siege and embargo (1975-1995), expanding foreign relations and international economic integration (1996-2010), deepening international relations and comprehensive international integration (2011-2025).

After reviewing the historical achievements after 50 years of national reunification and 40 years of renovation, Ambassador Nguyen Luong Ngoc affirmed that, having experienced the fiercest wars in the 20th century, the Vietnamese people clearly understand the precious value of peace and always desire and make continuous efforts to cooperate with all countries to preserve peace and friendship among nations.
Continuing the diplomatic tradition of our ancestors and creatively applying Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic ideology, in any circumstances, Vietnamese diplomacy always makes great efforts and persistently promotes the message of peace, anti-war, for the goal of peace, friendship and sustainable development in the region and the world.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Seyed Kamal Sajjadi, Chairman of the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association and Mr. Aliasghar Mohsen Sheikhi, Deputy Director of the Iran Defense Museum expressed their admiration and respect for the country and people of Vietnam for their great achievements in the resistance war for national independence and in the cause of national construction, while highly appreciating the growing role and position of Vietnam in the international arena and emphasizing the importance of further promoting the multifaceted relationship between the two countries.
In a friendly and open atmosphere, the speakers answered many questions from delegates about Vietnam's history and foreign policy, as well as prospects in the fields of bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Iran.

On the sidelines of the Dialogue, the Embassy organized a photo exhibition introducing to many Iranian friends nearly 80 photos about important milestones of Vietnam and Vietnamese diplomacy from 1945 to present.
Through many valuable documentary photos at the exhibition, many Iranian friends have fully understood the message of peace of Vietnamese diplomacy throughout the resistance war against colonialism and imperialism and in the process of building and developing Vietnam; enjoying beautiful photos of the country and people of Vietnam, and at the same time reviewing the development process of the good friendship between Vietnam and Iran.

The event ended with a deep impression on the guests about a Vietnamese people with a burning patriotism, a desire for independence, freedom, and a love of peace, about a rapidly developing and dynamic Vietnam in a period of deep international integration, contributing to increasing understanding, trust, and friendly and good cooperation between Vietnam and Iran.
