General Secretary To Lam meets with Chairman of the United Russia Party Medvedev

Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev emphasized that General Secretary To Lam's visit will contribute to deepening relations between the two Parties and two countries.

Mr. Medvedev congratulated Vietnam on the achievements it has made under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam himself. He believes that Vietnam will continue to move forward on the path of sustainable development, independence, and comprehensive and extensive integration.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy at attending the 80th Anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, making an official visit to Russia and meeting friends and comrades to feel the warm and special affection that the Russian leaders and people have for Vietnam.

The victory in the Great Patriotic War contributed to the victory of the August Revolution, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The anniversary of this victory is an occasion to honor the contributions of the Soviet Union and progressive forces in the world, and at the same time remind the younger generation to remember the sacrifices and losses of their ancestors for peace and freedom.

General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated Russia's dynamic development under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin and the United Russia Party. Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating and expanding the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.

The cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the United Russia Party is a solid foundation for promoting bilateral relations.

In the context of rapid international changes, Vietnam attaches special importance to traditional friendship and is ready to cooperate closely with the Russian Federation to elevate relations on key pillars such as politics, security - defense, energy, education - training, culture and people-to-people exchange.

The two leaders agreed on many major directions to strengthen the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries. The two sides affirmed to continue to consolidate political trust through high-level exchanges and close cooperation between the two Parties, the foundation for a long-term sustainable relationship...

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and open up new directions of cooperation, including defense, security, oil and gas, economy - trade, science - technology, transport infrastructure, aviation, space, artificial intelligence, education - training, cyber security, culture, tourism, etc.

Meeting with Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, General Secretary To Lam said the visit demonstrates the special affection and respect that Vietnam has for the Russian Federation.

Vietnam always appreciates the Russian people's loyalty and attachment to Vietnam; considers developing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia as one of the top priorities in its foreign policy.

The General Secretary appreciated the role of the Russian Federation Council in promoting cooperation between the two countries and wished to continue strengthening parliamentary cooperation.

Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko believes that the General Secretary's visit will create new momentum, contributing to consolidating and deepening the Vietnam-Russian Federation Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Although there are different political parties, the delegates of the Russian Federation Council and all parties in the Russian Parliament have good feelings and support for strengthening relations with Vietnam.

The Federal Council will continue to support the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in all areas, including party-to-party relations, economic cooperation, trade, science-technology, education-training, security-defense, culture, and people-to-people exchange.

Ms. Valentina Matviyenko is pleased with the inauguration of the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Saint Petersburg in 2023 and the naming of the Leningrad-Saint Petersburg route in Dien Bien Phu city.

The Russian Federation Council will continue to act as a bridge to help Vietnamese provinces and cities connect and establish cooperative relations with Russian localities, and implement cooperation with specific and practical results on the basis of signed agreements.

Ms. Valentina Matviyenko emphasized that the Russian Federation Council is ready to work with the Vietnamese National Assembly to promote its role at multilateral parliamentary forums to promote the principles of peace, stability and respect for international law.

The two leaders highly appreciated the results of parliamentary cooperation and emphasized the need to increase delegation exchanges at all levels, especially between specialized committees and friendship parliamentary groups. The two countries' legislative bodies need to continue to coordinate in monitoring the implementation of bilateral agreements in five key areas, with the pillars being defense-security, energy-oil and gas, science-high technology, human resource training and infrastructure; and support in removing legal obstacles to promote effective cooperation in the new period.

The two sides need to promote cultural cooperation, tourism, people-to-people exchange and cooperation between localities of the two countries, and support Vietnamese airlines in the process of implementing direct flights between Hanoi and Moscow.
