On the same day, Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung sent a congratulatory message to Mr. Motegi Toshimitsu on his appointment as Foreign Minister of Japan./.

The Japanese Parliament elected Takaichi Sanae as Prime Minister.
At the plenary meeting of the House of Representatives held at 1 p.m. on October 21 (Japan time), parliamentarians proceeded to elect the Japanese Prime Minister , after Mr. Shigeru Ishiba and his cabinet resigned en masse that morning.
The results announced by House of Representatives Speaker Nukaga Fukushiro later showed that Ms. Takaichi Sanae received 237 votes out of 465 valid votes, officially elected by the House of Representatives as the 104th Prime Minister of Japan and the first female Prime Minister since 1885 without the need for a second round of voting. The vote in the Senate then was mainly procedural, because according to regulations, if the vote result in the Senate is different from the House of Representatives, the vote result in the House of Representatives will be the final result.
The voting result was not unexpected as the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its new partner in the ruling coalition, the Japan Innovation Party (JIP), reached a consensus to support Ms. Takaichi to become Prime Minister of Japan, 1 day before the extraordinary session of the National Assembly.
Ms. Takaichi, 64 years old, was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1993, and has held important positions in the government and in the Liberal Democratic Party such as Minister of Economic Security, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, and Chairman of the LDP Policy Research Council.
