Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam: Attractive destination of Thang Long - Hanoi Festival

Within the framework of the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025 taking place from November 1 to 16, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam becomes the focus with a series of large-scale cultural and educational activities, aiming to spread the value of knowledge, promote the nation's thousand-year-old tradition of studiousness and promote the capital's typical heritage to the public, domestic and foreign tourists.

During the event, the Ho Van space and Thai Hoc yard simultaneously organized many experiential programs, performances and thematic exhibitions. The highlight was the "Heritage Convergence" program taking place from November 1 to 9 at Thai Hoc house with experiential activities, promoting typical products from typical traditional craft villages such as Hanoi - Hue - Ninh Binh - Tay Nguyen.

Tourists will experience and explore Bat Trang pottery, Ha Thai lacquerware, Chuong village hats, Thuong Tin embroidery, ethnic cakes (Hanoi); lotus leaf hats, sedge crafts, sesame candy, Hue cakes (Hue); Kim Son sedge, Ninh Hai embroidery, burnt rice (Ninh Binh); Buon Le brocade weaving - Dak Lak, brocade weaving at Chu Mom Ray National Park, Zeng brocade weaving in A Luoi, E De coffee, Ngoc Linh ginseng (Central Highlands).

Also in Thai Hoc area, the discussion "Dialogue between the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, symbol of Eastern Confucian education and Columbia University (USA)" will take place on November 3.

In the Ho Van area, many cultural, artistic and culinary activities will take place continuously throughout the 16 days of the Festival. Specifically, at 7:30 p.m. on November 2, the activity "Ao Dai on the Heritage Road" will take place, introducing 10 Ao Dai collections about the heritage of Hanoi, Hue, Ninh Binh and Tay Nguyen brocade by designers: Diep Anh, Trinh Bich Thuy, Tran Thien Khanh, Viet Bao, Cong Huan, Nguyen Thuy, Minh Hanh. Also on November 2, the painting exhibition "Thanh Tan Hanoi" will take place here, displaying images of Hanoi in the past and future.

At 7:30 p.m. on November 3, at Ho Van area, visitors will enjoy the art program "Oh Hanoi" with classic songs about Hanoi.

From November 1 to 16, at Ho Van area, there will be experiential activities for the public, especially young people, with workshops: making Do paper cards, drawing Hanoi-themed cookies, coloring bamboo dragonflies, decorating papier-mâché masks, and recycled crafts from fabric, bottles, glass, etc.

In particular, during the 16 days of the Thang Long – Hanoi Festival, in the Van Lake area of ​​the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam, there is a space to introduce Hanoi cuisine with the theme “Flavor of Hanoi”. Visitors can experience the culinary quintessence, from traditional feasts to rustic dishes: Uoc Le sausage, hand-rolled rice rolls, vermicelli with grilled pork, green sticky rice, bread, Vietnamese sweet soup…

On the afternoon of November 8, the workshop “Application of heritage in creativity” took place in Ho Van area with the participation of scientists and culturalists, discussing creative activities related to heritage, aiming to build a cooperation framework between artisans, designers and the creative community in the spirit of respect, fairness and sustainability.

For those who love folk culture, on November 8 and 9, you can experience puppet shows in the Ho Van area.

Director of the Center Le Xuan Kieu shared that the programs at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam within the framework of the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival aim to connect heritage with the community, especially the young generation, through modern transmission methods while still respecting the original values. Currently, the Center is making efforts to organize a series of events and cultural and creative activities in the Ho Van area to turn this place into an attractive and new creative space of the Capital.

The series of events at the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam not only enriches the picture of the Thang Long – Hanoi Festival 2025, but also affirms the role of this special national relic in the journey of preserving, honoring and spreading Vietnamese knowledge. Thereby, the Temple of Literature continues to inspire the spirit of studiousness, encouraging learning, and fostering the cultural identity of Thang Long – Hanoi, a creative, civilized and integrated capital.

All activities in the Ho Van area will be open to the public and visitors from 9am to 9pm.

“Festival Thang Long – Hanoi 2025” with the theme “Heritage – Connection – Era”, is identified as an annual activity of the Capital. The program will take place for 16 days (from November 1 to November 16) at many locations such as: Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi Museum, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Ngoc Son Temple... The opening ceremony will be held on the evening of November 7 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the closing ceremony on the evening of November 16 at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square. The event is directed by the Hanoi People's Committee, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with many units.

This year, Thang Long – Hanoi Festival has 30 activities with about 5,000 participants.
