Fast and neat construction of each section
In mid-October, in the sidewalk area from the beginning of Le Loi Street to the intersection with Le Quang Dao Street (Gia Vien Ward), the construction unit of the Le Loi Street renovation and expansion project, Tan Loc Construction Joint Stock Company, mobilized maximum machinery and human resources, and deployed many construction teams.
Each person has their own job, some remove old tiles, some operate excavators to lower the sidewalk level, some pave the sidewalk... Construction site commander Le Bao Trung said: To minimize the impact on the movement and daily life of residents, the contractor carries out the construction in sections, on each side, and completes each step neatly.
Currently, the contractor is carrying out the construction of a 450m section (from the May To intersection to the intersection with Le Quang Dao street). After moving underground works, trees, and lowering the ground level, the contractor will trim the sidewalk, remove the old brick layer, and pour the base layer of the sidewalk fabric, then lay fake stone concrete tiles to help people move conveniently and cleanly.

Mr. Ho Minh Dong, owner of shoe store No. 55 Le Loi Street in Gia Vien Ward, said he strongly supports the solution of constructing in sections, working neatly as it goes, ensuring environmental hygiene and not disrupting the business activities of households on the street. "To synchronize the sidewalk renovation and road expansion, the authorities should urgently move the power lines and research to replace the new tree system," Mr. Dong suggested.
According to the Hai Phong Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board (project investor), the project to renovate and expand Le Loi Street has its starting point at the intersection with Cau Dat Street and its end point at May To intersection, with a length of about 1.36 km.
The project renovates and widens the road surface to each side by an average of 2 m to ensure a minimum road width of 12 m, and a minimum sidewalk width of 3 m on each side. The project also undergrounds the electrical and lighting systems on the route, and installs electrical equipment. Renovates the domestic wastewater collection system, raises the existing sidewalk, and replaces damaged manhole covers. The sidewalk is replaced with imitation stone concrete bricks and the entire curb is replaced.
Need participation from many units
Deputy General Director of the Hai Phong Traffic and Agricultural Construction Project Management Board Pham Van Phong said: Le Loi Street has a very high traffic volume, so it requires scientific construction methods. The investor requires the contractor to organize construction in a "rolling" manner along the route, limiting construction during rush hours. The arrangement and gathering of construction materials must be neat, not occupying the roadway to limit the impact on business activities and people's lives. During the construction process, traffic safety measures must be well implemented such as: arranging a system of traffic signs, warnings, barriers, arranging traffic control forces and regulating construction machinery and equipment. Collecting and cleaning up excess materials during the day, immediately after construction shifts, ensuring the sidewalk is clean and airy.

According to the conclusion announcement of the Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan at the meeting to listen to reports on the causes and solutions to overcome the delay in completing sidewalk repairs on some inner-city roads, a separate request for the sidewalk repair project on Le Loi street must be completed in December 2025.
The sidewalk of Le Loi street after renovation, many sections are 2.5 m to 3 m wide while there are many technical infrastructure works such as trees, lighting, water supply and drainage systems, thus facing difficulties in organizing construction.
Meanwhile, the section from the intersection with Le Quang Dao Street to the intersection with Cau Dat Street is a one-way street, making it very difficult for vehicles transporting construction materials to travel. Construction site commander Le Bao Trung requested the Department of Construction and the City Police to calculate and allow trucks transporting materials and cranes to travel in both directions on Le Loi Street outside of rush hours.
"It is expected that in November, the contractor will asphalt the 450m road widening section from the beginning of Le Loi Street to the intersection with Le Quang Dao Street. The contractor hopes that Hai Phong Electricity One Member Co., Ltd. will urgently move the electric poles to facilitate the construction. We will not allow the situation where the road is paved but the electric poles are in the middle of the road, causing danger to traffic participants," said Mr. Trung.
With more than 2 months to go until the end of 2025, to ensure the project progress according to the city's requirements, the investor and the construction unit for repairing and renovating Le Loi Street need to make the most of time, increase human resources, machinery and equipment, organize construction scientifically, continuously, proactively source materials, and speed up production...
