
Immediately after opening, the index representing the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange had the strongest increase of the day when it "jumped" more than 20 points. However, from around 10am, the market began to cool down and turned red. By lunchtime, the VN-Index temporarily stopped at 1,657.48 points, down 5.95 points.
In the afternoon session, the market was under strong selling pressure at times, causing the index to fall more than 33 points, falling below the 1,630 point mark. However, bottom-fishing pressure appeared to help the market recover. At the end of the session, VN-Index increased by 15.07 points (0.91%) to 1,678.5 points; VN30-Index increased by 14.98 points (0.78%) to 1,930.88 points.
Market breadth was tilted towards the upside with 218 stocks rising and 113 stocks falling. In the VN30 basket, there were 21 stocks rising and 8 stocks falling.
In the large-cap group, the market recorded a clear differentiation. In the Vingroup group, VPL and VHM contributed 2.09 and 1.96 points to the VN-Index, respectively, while VIC took away 0.35 points. In the banking group, CTG, LPB, VCB, TCB supported the index's rise, whileSHB , SSB, EIB had an opposite impact.
By industry group, most of the industry groups increased points; in which the consumer services, software and services, energy, hardware - equipment, essential aviation trade, and utilities groups increased points positively.
On the contrary, securities, media - entertainment, personal care products - home, telecommunications services, commercial - professional services go against the general trend.
Liquidity dropped sharply, reaching only 32,000 billion VND, much lower than the 53,000 billion VND of the previous session. This development is believed to be due to the fact that bottom-fishing investors yesterday may be pausing to observe further market developments.
Foreign investors continued to return to net selling with a buying value of more than VND 3,157 billion and selling value of over VND 4,670 billion.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, at the end of the session, the HNX-Index temporarily stopped at 268.69 points, up 4.04 points (1.53%); the HNX30-Index reached 585.1 points after "increasing" 17.52 points (3.09%). The total transaction value reached nearly 3,000 billion VND.
