Attending this special ceremony, on the Canadian side and international guests were Mr. Bruce Ralston, Minister of Forestry and Minister of External Relations of the BC Government on behalf of the BC Government, Ms. Anne Kang, Minister of Urban Affairs of BC, many Mayors of major cities of BC, Canadian friends from Ministries, branches, agencies, organizations in many fields; Consuls General of many countries and representatives of associations in the Vietnamese community in the Western region.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Vinh Quang and his wife, a number of staff from the Embassy and Vietnamese agencies adjacent to the Embassy attended the ceremony along with all staff from the Consulate General and their families. About 400 guests attended the ceremony.
On this occasion, Mr. David Eby, Premier of British Columbia (BC) sent a letter to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Vancouver, Canada to congratulate the Government , people of Vietnam and staff of the Consulate General.
Attending the celebration, representatives of the Vietnamese community in the region, including artists, singers, businesses... introduced to Canadian and international friends beautiful lacquer paintings about the country and people of Vietnam, musical instruments, lyrics, traditional dances of Vietnam, Vietnamese cuisine and some Made-in-Vietnam products such as health protection products, bird's nest drinks, coffee... which received great attention and interest from attendees.
Several Canadian singers also contributed very special performances to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations. The graceful dances of the artists and the sweet melodies of the zither, monochord, and T'rung really attracted the guests and left good impressions about Vietnamese culture and people.
The ceremony to celebrate the 78th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Canada diplomatic relations in Vancouver took place solemnly, imbued with international friendship and compatriot sentiment, and was highly appreciated by many Canadian guests, consular delegations and the Vietnamese community.
