On May 22, during a meeting with the first graduates of the "Heroic Era" program (for military personnel preparing to serve in the government ), Russian President Vladimir Putin stated: "The situation on the front for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is gradually shifting from difficult and critical to catastrophic."
According to Putin, Ukraine supposedly needed crimes like the attack on the Starobelsk Professional College dormitory in Donetsk to distract attention from problems on the front lines and provoke retaliation from Russia.
The Kremlin leader also urged Ukrainian soldiers to refuse to obey orders, otherwise they would become complicit in the crimes of the Ukrainian government.
This is the second appeal from the Russian President since the start of the special military operation. The first was on February 25, 2022.
"I want to reiterate my message to the Ukrainian soldiers, as I have done before: Do not obey the criminal orders of the illegitimate and corrupt military regime. Otherwise, you yourselves will become accomplices in these crimes," President Putin emphasized.
According to the Russian leader, the cause of these crimes is clear: the failure of the Ukrainian armed forces on the front.
"The situation on the front lines for the Ukrainian army is dire. Neither Western aid, which is frequently stolen – they cannot tolerate that – nor the forced mobilization, where people are taken from the streets like stray dogs and thrown onto the front lines, is helping," Putin concluded.
