AP reported that President Trump rejected the latest proposal on May 1st almost immediately after it was presented, saying he was not satisfied with the deal.
"They (Iran) want to make a deal, but I'm not happy with it, so let's see what happens," Trump told reporters at the White House without elaborating on what he considered to be the shortcomings of the proposal.

President Trump also expressed disappointment with the Iranian leadership.
"They are a 'divided' leadership. They all want to reach an agreement, but everything is in disarray," the White House chief said.
According to Iran's state news agency, Tehran handed over its proposal to mediators in Pakistan to be sent to the United States on the evening of April 30.
Earlier, President Trump said he believed Iranian leaders had made some progress toward agreeing on a solution.
"They've made progress, but I'm not sure if they'll ever get there. There's a lot of discord; they're having serious trouble uniting in Iran," Trump said.
Meanwhile, Pakistani officials said efforts to de-escalate tensions between Iran and the US are continuing. Former Pakistani ambassador to Washington, Masood Khan, said the continued exchange of proposals shows that the US and Iran are still working towards a compromise diplomatic solution.
The fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran appears to be holding firm despite mutual accusations of violations. However, Iran still controls the Strait of Hormuz, while the US Navy maintains a blockade of Iranian ports, significantly impacting the global economy .
