Dong Ha City launches "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" in the Spring of the Year of the Dragon.

This morning, February 15th, at the Thanh Nien Street residential area, Quarter 2, Dong Giang Ward, Dong Ha City People's Committee organized the launching ceremony of the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" for the Year of the Dragon - 2024. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Phan Van Phung, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department; Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and Mr. Le Quang Chien, Secretary of the Dong Ha City Party Committee.

At the launching ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Ha City, Ho Sy Trung, called on localities, agencies, organizations, associations, schools, armed forces, and all sectors of the population to actively participate in the Tree Planting Festival. He also urged the effective implementation of the Government 's "Planting One Billion Trees in the 2021-2025 Period" project, in conjunction with the implementation of targets and tasks for sustainable forestry development in 2024 and the entire 2021-2025 period throughout the city.

Promoting the socialization of urban tree planting aims to protect the ecological environment and minimize damage caused by the negative impacts of climate change. This will contribute to building Dong Ha City into a comprehensively and sustainably developed city, ensuring a green, clean, and beautiful urban environment, and fulfilling the criteria for achieving Type II urban status in the near future.

Following the launching ceremony, delegates and a large number of residents joined in planting 62 pink trumpet trees and 6 yellow cassia trees in the residential area along Thanh Nien Street.

Over the years, the authorities, sectors, and people of Dong Ha City have consistently maintained the tree planting and reforestation movement, linked with promoting the socialization of urban green spaces. Annually, tens of thousands of scattered trees and over 120 hectares of forest are planted in hilly areas throughout the city, contributing to environmental protection and improving the quality of life for local residents.
