The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just requested departments, district People's Committees and Thu Duc City to promote electricity saving, ensuring safe and stable electricity supply in the area during this year's dry season.
This move is to implement the Prime Minister 's recent telegram on deploying urgent measures to respond to the risk of heat, drought, water shortage, and saltwater intrusion.
Urgent solutions are proposed in groups for 7 subjects, from administrative agencies, schools, commercial centers, production facilities, public lighting, and households.
For administrative agencies and office buildings, Ho Chi Minh City recommends adjusting the air conditioner to a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius or higher, turning on the air conditioner 60 minutes after starting work and turning it off 60 minutes before the end of the day.
Ho Chi Minh City recommends that people should turn on air conditioners from 26 degrees Celsius or higher to save electricity.
Agencies, organizations, and businesses turn off or reduce 50% of the lighting system capacity in hallways, parking lots, campuses, and public areas; reduce 50% of elevators, and encourage moving by stairs between nearby floors.
These solutions are also recommended for schools, training centers, shopping malls, service establishments.
In particular, the city government recommends limiting the use of formal attire, vests, etc. when working and attending meetings of administrative agencies.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City also requires a 50% reduction in lighting system capacity from 10 p.m. on routes with few vehicles, and turning off all decorative lighting systems from 10 p.m.
For households, it is necessary to thoroughly implement electricity saving measures in the home, turn off devices when not in use, turn on air conditioners from 26 degrees Celsius or higher, and make the most of natural light in the house.
The implementation period of the above urgent measures is from May 16 to June 30, 2023.
