On the evening of September 7, the World Travel Awards 2022 - Asia and Oceania region took place at GEM Center (HCMC). This is the second time Vietnam has been chosen to host the World Travel Awards Asia.
Speaking about the event, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that this year's award ceremony marks an important milestone for the world and Vietnam's tourism industry as it is held at a time when global tourism is recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the nominated awards this time have contributed to creating development momentum and affirming Vietnam's position on the world tourism map.
“HCMC considers this a great opportunity to promote the image of beautiful and attractive nature along with the friendly and hospitable Vietnamese people to friends around the world. I also hope that HCMC - a vibrant tourist city will bring visitors beautiful and memorable memories during their stay here,” Mr. Phan Van Mai shared.
At this year's WTA awards ceremony, many Vietnamese landmarks won in the following categories: Banyan Tree Lang Co resort - Asia's leading luxury resort, Salinda Resort Phu Quoc - Vietnam's leading beach resort, New World Phu Quoc resort - Asia's leading family beach resort, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa - Asia's leading luxury resort and spa, Asia's leading luxury wedding resort and Vietnam's leading resort.
Muong Thanh Luxury Nha Trang, Capella Hanoi, FLC Quy Nhon Beach & Golf Resort... hotels also won awards in important categories.

In addition, Da Nang was named Asia's leading festival and event destination, Hanoi won Asia's leading city destination, Moc Chau was Asia's leading nature area, Ho Chi Minh City was Asia's leading business travel destination and Asia's leading tourist city. Hoi An won Asia's leading cultural city destination, Vietnam was named Asia's leading destination and Asia's leading nature destination.
At this year’s WTA Awards, Vietnam Airlines was named Asia’s Leading Airline in Economy Class and Asia’s Leading Airline Brand. Vietravel Airlines was also named Asia’s Leading New Airline 2022.

In addition, Vietravel Tourism Company also won in 3 award categories: Asia's leading tour operator 2022, Vietnam's leading tour operator 2022 and Vietnam's leading travel company 2022.
This is the 10th consecutive time Vietravel has achieved impressive results at WTA. At the award ceremony, Mr. Tran Doan The Duy, General Director of Vietravel shared that in the 2 years affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietravel has been "actively hibernating" - maintaining the promotion of Vietnam's image to the world.
“These prestigious awards once again demonstrate the special appeal of Vietnamese tourism, which is the basis for confidence in the recovery of the “smokeless industry” when international tourism reopens,” Mr. Duy commented.

Previously, from 2017 to present, Vietnam has been honored to receive many prestigious awards from the World Travel Awards such as the world's leading heritage destination, the world's best golf destination, Asia's leading destination, Asia's leading cultural destination, Asia's leading culinary destination...
Vietnam National Administration of Tourism was also honored twice as Asia's leading national tourism management agency in 2017 and 2021. In November 2021, Ho Chi Minh City was honored to receive the award for Asia's Best MICE Destination 2021 voted by WTA.
The World Travel Awards are considered the Oscars of world tourism. Established in 1993, the awards aim to recognize, reward and honor the top names in all areas of the tourism industry globally.
