Ho Chi Minh City establishes working group to develop international financial center

On August 21, the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee announced that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued a decision to establish a Working Group to advise on the construction and development of the Vietnam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City (hereinafter referred to as the Working Group).

The working group consists of 6 members, led by Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

According to the decision, the working group is responsible for researching, consulting, contributing ideas and proposing policies for the development of the Vietnam International Finance Center in Ho Chi Minh City; working with experts, scientists and domestic and foreign organizations to perfect the policies.

In addition, the working group will advise on developing a cooperation plan with financial institutions, international banks, educational institutions, as well as domestic and foreign partners to promote the development of an international financial center.

The group is also responsible for giving opinions and proposing training programs and fostering high-quality human resources, and at the same time researching mechanisms to attract and encourage financial experts, financial technology experts and international investors to work in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Resolution of the National Assembly, the International Financial Center in Vietnam will be located in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang City. The International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City has an expected area of ​​about 686 hectares, located in District 1 (old) and the new urban area of ​​Thu Thiem (An Khanh ward).

On August 19, the Saigon Marina International Financial Center (Saigon Marina IFC) building at 2 Ton Duc Thang, Saigon Ward was inaugurated, marking the beginning of the process of building an international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said that the locality has identified a 10-hectare land fund right in the center of the new urban area of ​​Thu Thiem to build the headquarters of the international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City, with completion time in 2-3 years.

At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City will focus on training human resources to operate the international financial center ecosystem, recruiting personnel with professional qualifications and experience in the fields of finance, securities, etc.
