The art program "The River Tells Stories" made a strong impression on viewers.

Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the history of Saigon - Cholon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City over the past 300 years has been strongly marked by rivers. Following the arc of the Saigon trading port, many structures were formed and developed, becoming cultural heritage and a source of pride for the city's people, such as the Thu Ngu Flagpole, the Ba Son Shipyard, and the Nha Rong Wharf... "We came along the river, lived by the river, and developed thanks to the river," Mr. Mai emphasized.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, rivers and canals are a distinctive feature of the Saigon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City region. The art program "The River Tells Stories" is a tribute to the pioneers who cleared the land, and to the generations of migrants who settled, worked, and struggled to create and pass on the river's heritage to future generations. Mr. Mai also stated that the program is a greeting from Ho Chi Minh City, a peaceful riverside city, and a message of readiness to cooperate with friends from all over the world to find ways to develop the service economy on and along the river, maximizing the potential and advantages from river and sea resources.

"The River Tells Stories" is an art program that recreates the main stages of the history of exploration, formation, and development associated with the Saigon River. The program recreates the cultural and economic activities and lifestyle of the people of Saigon - Cholon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City over more than 300 years, divided into five chapters: Land Reclamation - City Construction - On the Riverbanks - Flourishing Trading Port - The Glorious City by the River.

The program featured performances by over 700 actors and residents of Ho Chi Minh City, as well as people from traditional craft villages in the Mekong Delta. In addition, 30 restaurants, yachts, sailboats, canoes, wooden boats, river buses, and speedboats operating tourism services in the city also participated in the parade. The program utilized modern performance and interactive technologies such as: 3D lighting art covering the entire waterfront setting, a water fountain system on the river, high-powered laser lights for each performance; and aerial displays combined with light shows using drones and fireworks.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, stated that the River and Sea Festival has exploited the valuable river and sea resources of the city, contributing to positioning the city's brand as a riverine metropolis rich in cultural identity. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism hopes this festival will become a distinctive highlight of the city's tourism. From there, it aims to orient activities such as art performances on the river into a regular product serving both residents and tourists.
