Regarding vaccines, on July 10, the Government issued a Resolution (No. 98/NQ-CP) on allocating the central budget in 2023 to the Ministry of Health to purchase vaccines for the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI).
Currently, the Ministry of Health is assigning the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to place orders for domestically produced vaccines and bid for imported vaccines.
The expanded immunization campaign is of great significance in protecting the health of the entire population (photo TL).
The Institute is carrying out procedures according to regulations for vaccine procurement to be able to supply vaccines as soon as possible to localities nationwide.
In Ho Chi Minh City, most of the EPI vaccines in Ho Chi Minh City have run out or are in very limited quantities. Tetanus vaccines are still available until the end of November 2023, and Japanese encephalitis vaccines are still available until the end of December 2023.
To ensure vaccines for the EPI program, the Department of Health has also advised the City People's Committee to recommend the Ministry of Health to soon allocate vaccines to the city.
Responding to Ho Chi Minh City's petition, the Ministry of Health said it is assigning the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to urgently place orders, bid for vaccine procurement, and soon distribute it to the city and the whole country.
According to information from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, vaccines can be supplied between late November 2023 and late December 2023.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has directed the city's Center for Disease Control to proactively transfer vaccines between districts and Thu Duc City to ensure fairness for people in accessing vaccines.
While waiting for vaccine allocation from the Ministry of Health, the Center for Disease Control continues to propagate and instruct parents on how to prevent infectious diseases for children. Health stations review and strictly manage the list of children who are due for new vaccinations and booster vaccinations to promptly remind and deploy vaccinations as soon as the vaccine supply is available again.
