In the joyful celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City is filled with the red of the national flag, the yellow of flowers and joyful smiles on every street. The atmosphere of the great holiday of September 2nd spreads everywhere, from residential areas, parks to the city center, especially Nguyen Hue walking street - where many people and international tourists gather to join the colorful flow of people on the national festival.

Central streets such as Le Duan, Dong Khoi, Nguyen Hue, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia... were covered with red flags with yellow stars and beautifully decorated flowers. On the afternoon of September 2, people from all over flocked to Nguyen Hue walking street, not only to enjoy the festive atmosphere but also to capture special moments of the important anniversary.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, 65 years old, living in Saigon Ward, emotionally shared: “Every time the National Day comes, my heart flutters remembering the days when our nation gained independence. Seeing the young generation today excitedly taking to the streets, my heart is also filled with joy and I always believe that our country will develop and prosper more and more.”

Not only in the center, districts, wards and communes also simultaneously organized a series of activities "National Unity Day" according to the plan of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. Hundreds of cultural, sports and social security activities were organized with a total value of billions of VND. From "Great Unity Meals" in residential areas, culinary competitions of three regions, to national flag routes and the "City of Colorful Flowers" project, all became brilliant highlights.

Tran Quoc Duy, a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, said: “Standing at Nguyen Hue on National Day in front of Uncle Ho’s statue, I am very proud to be Vietnamese and clearly feel the solidarity of everyone, everyone is happy and excited to join in the sacred atmosphere of the nation. This is an unforgettable memory in my student life.”
In addition to the city’s residents, many international tourists were also present, joining in the festive atmosphere. Maria Lopez, a tourist from Spain, happily said: “I was really impressed when I saw the whole city glowing with red flags with yellow stars and beautifully decorated. The people here are friendly and cheerful, making me feel the spirit of solidarity and strong national pride of Vietnam.”

The special feature of this year’s National Day is the connection between festival activities and community care work. Many localities have organized scholarships for poor but studious students, given gifts to people in difficult circumstances, and inaugurated welfare works to serve the people. These acts not only make the holiday more meaningful but also contribute to lighting up the spirit of love and affection, which is a typical beauty of Ho Chi Minh City.

The 80th anniversary of National Day is not only an occasion for the city to organize a brilliant festival, but also an opportunity for each citizen to review revolutionary traditions and foster national pride.
Mr. Robert Miller, a tourist from Australia, after visiting the photo exhibition at Nguyen Hue walking street shared: “I see the resilience and desire for independence of the Vietnamese people through each photo. National Day is not only meaningful to you, but also a valuable lesson for international friends.”

The red flags with yellow stars fluttering on every street, the bright smiles of the people and international friends, and practical activities to care for the community have created the image of a city of love and steadfastness on the journey of construction and development.
