Long Xuyen City takes care of the lives of workers.

In the context of a constantly evolving socio-economic landscape, the Long Xuyen City Party Committee and People's Committee have been demonstrating comprehensive concern for the workforce – the core force contributing to the city's overall development. Working alongside the government, the Long Xuyen City Federation of Labor Unions (LĐLĐ) affirms its role as a reliable partner, implementing practical activities to care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of its members and workers.

Leaders of Long Xuyen City and the Provincial Labor Union presented gifts to workers suffering from serious illnesses or work-related accidents.

Deep concern

Recognizing the crucial role of the workforce in the city's development, the city's socio -economic development programs consistently integrate goals to improve the material and spiritual well-being of workers. From creating favorable conditions for businesses to develop and generate more stable jobs, to investing in social welfare projects such as worker housing, schools, and health centers, the city leadership demonstrates its concern and concrete actions.

During meetings and direct dialogues with workers, the leaders of the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee listen to and record the thoughts, aspirations, and difficulties that workers are facing. From there, they provide timely guidance and specific solutions to resolve obstacles, create better working conditions, and ensure more stable income for workers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Oanh (a worker at Cuu Long Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company) shared: “We clearly feel the concern of the city leaders. During holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), workers with difficult circumstances like me always receive encouraging gifts, which really helps us feel secure in our work.”

As an organization representing the legitimate rights and interests of workers, the Long Xuyen City Federation of Labor Unions (LĐLĐ TP) has implemented many effective activities, becoming a strong bridge between the Party Committee, local government, and workers. One of the city's key tasks is the dissemination and education of labor laws, helping workers raise their awareness of their rights and obligations. In addition, the Long Xuyen City Federation of Labor Unions actively participates in the development of policies related to workers at the city level, ensuring that workers' voices are heard and fully reflected. They regularly inspect and monitor the implementation of labor laws in enterprises, promptly detecting and recommending action against cases of violations of workers' rights. A highlight of the Long Xuyen City Federation of Labor Unions' activities is its work in caring for the material and spiritual well-being of its members and workers. Every year, the City Federation of Labor Unions organizes many meaningful programs, such as: "Tet Reunion," "Workers' Month," visiting and giving gifts to workers in difficult circumstances, supporting the construction and repair of union-sponsored housing...

Practical activities

According to Truong Van Chiem, Chairman of the Long Xuyen City Labor Union, this year's Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health saw a series of activities organized by the city's Labor Union and grassroots unions, with diverse content. They provided support to over 400 union members, totaling more than 220 million VND. They also organized the "Thank You to the Workers" program and recommended 100 outstanding union members for Party membership consideration. At the 2025 Workers' Day, 54 gifts were given to union members and workers suffering from serious illnesses or work-related accidents (1,000,000 VND/gift); 160 gifts were given to union members and workers facing difficulties (500,000 VND/gift); and two "Union Shelters" were donated to union members facing housing difficulties (support for new construction: 50 million VND/house, and repair: 25 million VND/house).

One of the most humane programs of the Long Xuyen City Labor Union is the construction and donation of "Union Shelters." These spacious and compassionate houses have become a solid support for many worker families facing housing difficulties. During the 2025 Workers' Month, the Long Xuyen City Labor Union organized a handover ceremony for "Union Shelters" to many worker families in the city. Recently, the Long Xuyen City Labor Union handed over a "Union Shelter" to union member Pham Thi Hong Anh (from the Le Hong Phong Primary School's grassroots union). The house has an area of ^​​96m² , with tiled floors, brick walls, a corrugated iron roof, and a steel frame. The total cost was 280 million VND (of which, the Union Shelter Fund contributed 50 million VND, the family contributed 200 million VND, and benefactors contributed 30 million VND).

Unable to hide her emotion, Ms. Hong Anh shared: “Previously, my family lived in a dilapidated house. Thanks to the care and support of the City Labor Union and my colleagues, my family now has this dream house. I am extremely grateful.” Chairman of the Long Xuyen City Labor Union, Truong Van Chiem, emphasized: “The 'Labor Union Shelter' program is one of the key activities, demonstrating the deep concern of the labor union organization for the lives of workers. We hope that these new houses will help workers' families stabilize their lives, feel secure in their work, and continue to contribute to the development of the city.”
