Recognizing the key role of the workforce in the process of building and developing the city, the city's socio -economic development programs always incorporate the goals of improving the material and spiritual life of workers. From creating favorable conditions for businesses to develop, creating more stable jobs, to investing in social welfare projects such as: Workers' housing, schools, medical stations... showing the concerns and specific actions of the city's leaders.

During meetings and direct dialogues with employees, the leaders of the City Party Committee and People's Committee listened to and recorded the thoughts, aspirations, and difficulties that employees were facing. From there, they provided timely instructions and specific solutions to remove obstacles, create better working conditions, and more stable income for employees. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Oanh (worker at Cuu Long Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company) shared: "We clearly feel the concern of the city leaders. On holidays and Tet, workers in difficult circumstances like me always receive encouraging gifts, which really helps us feel secure at work."

As an organization representing the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers, the Long Xuyen City Labor Federation has carried out many effective activities, becoming a solid bridge between the Party Committee, local authorities and workers. One of the key tasks of the City Labor Federation is to propagate andeducate about labor laws, helping workers raise their awareness of their rights and obligations. In addition, the Long Xuyen City Labor Federation also actively participates in the process of developing policies related to workers at the city level, ensuring that the voices of workers are fully heard and reflected. Regularly inspect and supervise the implementation of labor laws at enterprises, promptly detect and recommend handling of violations of workers' rights. A bright spot in the activities of the Long Xuyen City Labor Federation is the care for the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers. Every year, the City Labor Federation organizes many meaningful programs, such as: "Tet Sum Vay", "Worker's Month", visiting and giving gifts to workers in difficult circumstances, supporting the construction and repair of the Union Shelter...

Practical activities

Chairman of the Long Xuyen City Labor Federation Truong Van Chiem said that this year, during the Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene, the City Labor Federation and grassroots unions organized a series of activities with diverse contents. Supported over 400 union members, with a total amount of more than 220 million VND. Organized the program "Thanking workers"; introduced 100 outstanding union members for the Party to consider and admit... At the 2025 Workers' Festival, 54 gifts were presented to union members and workers with serious illnesses or work-related accidents (1,000,000 VND/gift); 160 gifts were presented to union members, workers and workers in difficult circumstances (500,000 VND/gift); 2 Union Shelters were presented to union members with difficult housing conditions (support for building new houses of 50 million VND/house, repairing of 25 million VND/house).

One of the programs bearing the humane imprint of the Long Xuyen City Labor Federation is the construction and donation of Trade Union Shelters. The spacious and affectionate houses have become a solid support for many families of workers with difficult housing circumstances. During the Workers' Month 2025, the Long Xuyen City Labor Federation organized a handover ceremony of Trade Union Shelters to many families of workers in the city. Recently, the Long Xuyen City Labor Federation has just handed over a Trade Union Shelter to union member Pham Thi Hong Anh (of the Le Hong Phong Primary School Trade Union). The house has an area of ^​​96m2 , tiled floor, walls, corrugated iron roof, and steel frame. The total cost of implementation is 280 million VND (of which, the Trade Union Shelter Fund supports 50 million VND, the family contributes 200 million VND, and the benefactor contributes 30 million VND).

Unable to hide her emotions, Ms. Hong Anh shared: “Previously, my family lived in a dilapidated house. Thanks to the care and support of the City Labor Federation and colleagues, my family has this dream house. I am extremely grateful”. Chairman of the Long Xuyen City Labor Federation Truong Van Chiem emphasized: “The Trade Union Shelter Program is one of the key activities, demonstrating the deep concern of the trade union organization for the lives of workers. We hope that the new houses will help the families of workers stabilize their lives, feel secure at work and continue to contribute to the development of the city”.
