Thus, this year, the competition rate for high schools with top admission scores remains high. Of which, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School leads the competition rate with 1:2.87 students. Next is Gia Dinh High School with 1:2. In addition, some schools have a competition rate of over 1:2, including: Nguyen Huu Huan High School, Thu Duc High School, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Practice High School, Le Thanh Ton High School, Nguyen Huu Tien High School, Ho Thi Bi High School and Pham Van Sang High School.
Previously, on April 20, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the enrollment quota for grade 10 in the 2023-2024 school year of 114 public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City. Of which, some high schools in the top group increased their quota slightly, such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (increased from 690 quotas last year to 735 quotas), Le Quy Don High School (increased from 560 quotas last year to 675 quotas), Trung Vuong High School (increased from 675 quotas last year to 810 quotas)...
On the contrary, some schools reduced their quotas, such as Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, which reduced its quota from 775 last year to 730 this year, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's Practical High School, which reduced its quota from 350 last year to 280 this year.

After the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the number of candidates registering for their first choice to enter public high schools, parents and students who want to adjust their choices will be able to edit them once online from May 15 to 21.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the public 10th grade entrance exam will take place on June 6 and 7. Candidates will take 3 compulsory subjects including Math, Literature and Foreign Language along with a specialized or integrated subject (if they wish to register for specialized or integrated 10th grade).
According tothe education sector's plan to stream students after graduating from junior high school, only about 70% of junior high school graduates continue to study in grade 10 at public high schools, the remaining 30% have to choose other forms of study such as vocational training, studying at vocational education centers - continuing education, intermediate schools, colleges...
In the 2023-2024 school year, the non-public education system and vocational education will enroll more than 51,000 students after graduating from junior high school.
