Ho Chi Minh City: Intensive crackdown on counterfeit goods.

Authorities conducted surprise inspections of businesses in the area and discovered many goods without invoices or documents proving their origin.

On May 28th, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department inspected a series of businesses selling counterfeit goods in the area.

Specifically, Team 12 of the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department, in coordination with the Gia Dinh Ward Police, conducted a surprise inspection of a business in the area and discovered 92 pairs of Nike and Adidas sports shoes and sandals without invoices or documents proving their origin. The goods were unused, had original labels in foreign languages ​​but lacked supplementary labels in Vietnamese, and were valued at over 100 million VND.

According to Market Management Team No. 12, the shoes in question show signs of infringement, and they are continuing to coordinate with representatives of the intellectual property rights holders of the Nike and Adidas brands, which are protected in Vietnam, to further clarify and handle the case according to regulations.

Simultaneously, Market Management Team No. 16 conducted inspections of numerous businesses on key, busy commercial streets in Phu Hoa Dong, Tan An Hoi, and Cu Chi communes (Ho Chi Minh City), discovering hundreds of products including skin creams, hair masks, makeup removers, perfumes of unknown origin, and sports shoes, sandals, socks, and clothing bearing the Lacoste, Nike, Adidas, and Crocs brands with similar designs and styles to genuine products.

Team No. 14 of the Market Management Department, in coordination with state management agencies, the police, and the People's Committees of the wards, inspected and handled 4 cases, temporarily seizing 792 units of products including Honda motorcycle masks, shoes, clothing, face masks, and socks bearing the logos of foreign brands such as Chanel, Calvin Klein, Nike, and Tommy Hilfiger. All of these goods were of unknown origin and showed signs of counterfeiting trademarks registered and protected in Vietnam.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department, in recent times, thanks to strong publicity from the media, many businesses have temporarily closed or shifted their operating hours to later times in order to avoid inspection by authorities.
