On the afternoon of May 28th, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, held a press conference to provide information on socio -economic issues in the city. The press conference was chaired by comrades: Tang Huu Phong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; and Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports.
Implementing new traffic management solutions.
At the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Kien Giang, Deputy Head of the Department of Maintenance and Operation of Traffic Works, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, said that the flexible reverse lane solution on Cong Hoa Street, applied from May 15th, has initially yielded positive results, contributing to raising people's awareness when participating in traffic.
Regarding the Dien Bien Phu roundabout area, the Department of Construction, in coordination with the police force, is studying and implementing a plan to retain the roundabout but organize traffic in a way that eliminates the roundabout, effective from May 23rd. According to Mr. Nguyen Kien Giang, on the first day of implementation, some people were confused due to unfamiliarity with the new plan, but after two days, traffic conditions improved.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction will continue to monitor the two solutions for about a month to make appropriate adjustments.

On Cong Hoa Street, the unit is coordinating with local authorities to study options for restricting car access to certain alleyways during peak hours; at the same time, they are adding pedestrian crossings, speed bumps, barriers, and signage systems.
Following these solutions, the Department of Construction will continue to reorganize traffic at several other "hot spots," such as increasing mixed-traffic lanes on Pham Van Dong Street; reducing intersections and opening intermediate intersections on Truong Chinh Street, from Cong Hoa to Phan Van Hon, in order to increase traffic capacity.
85 drivers tested positive for drugs.
At the press conference, Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Ba Tuan, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police, said that during the 45-day intensive campaign of "Comprehensive review, statistics, detection, combating, and cleaning up the area - building a foundation to serve the transformation of areas with complex security and order issues, towards the goal of building a drug-free Ho Chi Minh City by 2030," the traffic police force carried out five key tasks.
The tasks include: improving the efficiency of receiving crime reports and denunciations; coordinating with units to combat and handle drug-related crimes; compiling statistics and inspecting businesses and workshops that modify vehicles, especially those related to electric vehicles; stepping up enforcement to reduce traffic accidents and congestion; and coordinating with local authorities and commune/ward police to restore urban order.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Ba Tuan, since the start of the crackdown, the traffic police have detected and handled 85 cases of drivers testing positive for drugs. Upon detection, the traffic police coordinated with the Drug Crime Investigation Department and local police to trace the drivers, as directed by the Ho Chi Minh City Police Directorate.
Traffic police and task forces from the Ho Chi Minh City Police also inspected many establishments suspected of violating regulations related to electric vehicles. During the inspections, authorities discovered many new methods and tricks in modifying electric vehicles, especially self-assembling electric vehicles and making their own rechargeable batteries; they also seized many goods of unknown origin and recycled batteries.
Innovating drug prevention and control propaganda
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Nam, Deputy Head of the Drug Crime Investigation Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, said that recently, the unit's fanpage has attracted a large number of people. This is the result of innovating the work of disseminating and educating the public about the law, in line with modern media trends and the need to access information in cyberspace.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Nam, in recent days, the fanpage of the Drug Crime Investigation Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Police has recorded 151 million views and interactions. People actively follow, support, and provide a lot of information and report suspicious signs related to drugs to the police force. As a result, the Drug Crime Investigation Department has initiated 170 cases and arrested 576 suspects.
“We continue to disseminate information about drug prevention and control, about the achievements and new tactics of drug criminals, but instead of conveying it in a one-way manner, the fanpage chooses a more relatable storytelling approach, increasing interaction with the public, and using language suitable for the social media environment, especially for young people. Through this, information that is often considered dry becomes more accessible, helping people better understand the dangers of drugs as well as the silent efforts and sacrifices of the police force in the fight against drug crime,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Nam.
