
During the meeting, Comrade Dang Minh Thong highly appreciated Comrade Ton Tan Quan's visit, stating that the visit demonstrated the interest and importance that Beijing in general, and Dong Thanh district in particular, place on developing friendly relations and cooperation with the Party Committee, government of Ho Chi Minh City and its subordinate administrative units, including Saigon Ward.
According to Comrade Dang Minh Thong, this is also a practical activity aimed at concretizing the common understanding of the high-level leaders of the two Parties and two countries on further deepening bilateral relations.
Comrade Dang Minh Thong emphasized that the Party Committee and government of Ho Chi Minh City attach great importance to and wish to strengthen friendly relations and extensive, effective cooperation with localities, ministries, and partners in China. The total trade turnover between Ho Chi Minh City and the Chinese market is projected to reach US$25.8 billion in 2025; and US$11.4 billion in the first four months of 2026 alone.
On May 19th, the Politburo issued a Resolution on the construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City in the new era. Accordingly, the goal is that by 2030, Ho Chi Minh City will be a civilized, modern city, an economic, cultural, and social center of Southeast Asia; and by 2045, it will become an economic, scientific, technological, and innovation center of Asia, and a globally attractive destination.
In that spirit, Ho Chi Minh City wishes to strengthen comprehensive and substantive cooperation with cities around the world , especially the capital city of Beijing.

In response, Comrade Ton Tan Quan thanked the leaders and people of Ho Chi Minh City for their warm welcome; and noted that the Dong Thanh area and Ho Chi Minh City share many similarities, both being economic and cultural centers that attract a large number of domestic and international tourists.
