As part of the Da Nang Food Tour 2026, held from May 22-24, the Hoi An Dong Traditional Cake Festival 2026 took place at Cam Chau Market (Hoi An Dong Ward, Da Nang). Familiar cakes such as banh beo, banh bot loc, banh xeo, banh it la gai… were introduced at the festival along with cultural stories associated with the lives of the people of Quang Nam. Through this, visitors could better appreciate the value of traditional cuisine in a visual and vivid way. Foreign tourists are delighted to participate for the first time in the various stages of making traditional cakes, such as grinding flour, pouring batter, wrapping, and steaming the cakes. Mr. Leo Flecken, a tourist from the Netherlands, said this was his first time participating in a Vietnamese folk festival. “What impressed me most was the variety of food. There were so many different kinds of cakes here, and they were all delicious. The people around me were really kind; they invited me to try grinding the flour and making the cakes. I love this place!” Mr. Leo said.
A novel and attractive highlight of this year's festival is the "Culinary Passport" activity for visitors, especially international tourists. Each participant will receive a "passport" as a ticket to experience the culinary culture of Quang Nam province. This is not only a fun interactive activity but also a unique memento, preserving the journey of discovering the cuisine of Hoi An Dong.
Over 20 stalls selling traditional cakes, OCOP products, and signature dishes created a rich culinary space for the festival. Visitors had the opportunity to directly observe the preparation of various cakes at the food stalls.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Hoi An Dong Ward and Head of the Organizing Committee of the program, said: "Through this festival, the locality hopes to gradually build cultural and culinary tourism products with unique characteristics, developing tourism in a quality, sustainable direction with rich experiential value."
