Traveling from Phu Tho to Van Don takes only about 3 hours, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tung's family booked a tour to visit Bai Tu Long Bay. Mr. Tung shared: "Every summer I choose Quang Ninh to take my family on vacation . This year, I chose Bai Tu Long Bay because it's a newly opened destination, and I was quite curious. I was very surprised by how convenient the journey is; the highway from Phu Tho to Van Don is very fast. Moreover, the port is also very modern."
To meet the needs of tourists, from the beginning of May 2025, Everland Group will put into operation two luxury cruise ships, each with a capacity of up to 99 seats. The ships have three decks, designed to be spacious, with luxurious, modern interiors. They also feature an outdoor swimming pool, and the third deck is an open space with relaxation chairs and tea/coffee tables where guests can enjoy themselves while admiring the scenery. In particular, guests can enjoy diverse cuisine and fresh seafood from the Van Don sea area. The fire protection system, lifeboats, lifebuoys, and warning and rescue systems on board are all designed and equipped to the highest safety standards. Notably, the ships also have restaurants serving fresh seafood sourced from the famous Van Don seafood market, prepared according to traditional local flavors or according to guests' requests. The journey to explore Bai Tu Long Bay lasts 4-6 hours, during which visitors can swim, kayak, sightsee, take photos, and more.
Ms. Trinh Hong Ngoc (a tourist from Hanoi ) shared: "I have visited many tourist destinations in Quang Ninh, but this is my first time in Bai Tu Long Bay. I find the scenery here very pristine and the nature beautiful; my family had a wonderful time and space to play and relax here."
Bai Tu Long Bay is a stunning sea and island region, notable for its system of large and small islands, pristine beaches, and valuable nature reserves, closely linked to the historical and cultural values of the sea and islands. In particular, Bai Tu Long National Park, recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park, is one of the highlights of Vietnam's nature conservation efforts. Therefore, Bai Tu Long Bay is an ideal location for developing ecotourism, nature exploration, and community-based tourism. To date, Bai Tu Long Bay has welcomed nearly 1,500 visitors, with a particularly high number during peak weekends.
Currently, along with the addition of several new tourist attractions in Bai Tu Long Bay, such as Cai Lim Island, Minh Chau and Ban Sen island communes, etc., from March 2025, Quang Ninh province will announce 10 itineraries on Bai Tu Long Bay and 3 itineraries connecting Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. Tourists departing from Ao Tien International Port will visit points such as Phat Co Cave, the pearl oyster farming area (Black Stone Island), Lao Vong Canal, Dua Island, Minh Chau Island, Cai Lim beach, Cua Ong, Reu Island, Quan Lan Island... The opening of new itineraries aims to create more tourism products, reduce congestion in Ha Long Bay, and promote economic development in the Northeast region of Vietnam.
However, to date, many destinations are still under development and not yet included in tour itineraries, causing many tourists to feel disappointed when visiting Bai Tu Long Bay. Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung (tour guide from Hanoi Tourist travel company) said: "I highly appreciate the potential of Bai Tu Long Bay. Currently, itineraries to Van Don all include tours of this bay along with resorts and spiritual tourism destinations. Tourists also hope that tour operators will maximize the number of destinations on Bai Tu Long Bay tours so that they can explore and experience more interesting activities here."
Bai Tu Long Bay is located within the Van Don Special Economic Zone, a highly promising tourism development area with a well-invested transportation system including roads, seaports, and airports to support tourism. Along with a system of accommodation facilities and large, high-end resort complexes, this has created a comprehensive and attractive tourism product chain.
It is understood that by the end of 2025, Quang Ninh will continue to develop more accommodation and overnight stay products on Bai Tu Long Bay and experiences in new areas to create a development space between the bays and other areas in the province. In addition, it will expand international promotion and attract investment in ports and tourism services, strengthen the protection of landscapes and ecosystems, and ensure sustainable development.
