Along with Tran Quyet Chien, he made it into the top 5.

On the UMB rankings before the Bogota 2025 World Cup (updated February 12, 2025), Tran Thanh Luc was ranked 11th with 203 points, and he only had to defend 10 points. Tran Quyet Chien was unable to defend his Bogota World Cup title.

Exactly one year ago (March 3, 2024), after competing in the Bogota World Cup 2024, Tran Thanh Luc was only ranked 31st. Tran Thanh Luc's first significant achievement at UMB world tournaments was his runner-up title at the World Championship held in September 2024 in Binh Thuan. However, after the success of the 2024 World Championship, the player from Binh Duong only rose to 14th place. At that time, Thanh Luc had aimed for a top 10 finish. But now, he has entered the top 5 best players in the world, along with his first championship title in the UMB tournament system.

As for Tran Quyet Chien, he was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Bogota World Cup 2025, after losing to world number 1 Dick Jaspers (who later lost to Tran Thanh Luc in the semi-finals). Despite his early exit, the player born in 1984 did not lose any points and still ranked highly: 4th with 318 points.

Tran Thanh Luc has made a rapid rise in the UMB rankings over the past year.

The top 3 players in the world are: Dick Jaspers (Netherlands, 436 points), Cho Myung-woo (South Korea, 330 points), and Eddy Merckx (Belgium, 326 points).

Other Vietnamese players in the top 30 of the UMB rankings include Bao Phuong Vinh (ranked 14th, 178 points), Chiem Hong Thai (ranked 15th, 173 points), and Tran Duc Minh (ranked 23rd, 123 points).

Tran Thanh Luc continues to receive special treatment.

The next World Cup billiards tournament in 2025 will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, tentatively at the end of May. At the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City World Cup billiards tournament, the top 14 players will receive a bye to the main draw (round of 32) based on the rankings updated on February 12, 2025. This ranking includes four Vietnamese players in the top 14: Tran Quyet Chien, Tran Thanh Luc, Bao Phuong Vinh, and Chiem Hong Thai. Therefore, these four players will automatically be exempt from the qualifying rounds.

Not only will he receive a wildcard entry in the World Cup stages, but if he maintains a position in the top 16, Tran Thanh Luc will also have a ticket to the 2025 World Championship.

Tran Thanh Luc received over 400 million VND in prize money.

With his victory at the Bogota 2025 World Cup, Tran Thanh Luc received a prize of 16,000 euros (approximately 429 million VND). The runner-up received 10,000 euros, while the third-place winners received 6,000 euros each. Chiem Hong Thai, who was eliminated in the quarterfinals, received 3,500 euros.
