Germany easily crushed Finland. |
Immediately after the opening whistle, the German team launched an attack and quickly imposed their dominance. With superior ball control and fast-paced passing combinations in the midfield, Die Mannschaft gave their opponents almost no chance to develop their game. Finland was forced to retreat deep to defend against the constant pressure from the home team.
Deniz Undav was the most outstanding player in the attack. Despite missing a few good opportunities in the early minutes, the Stuttgart striker still managed to make his mark. In the 34th minute, he received a precise cross from Joshua Kimmich before heading the ball into the net to open the scoring for Germany.
The opening goal boosted the home team's morale after the break. Just three minutes into the second half, the Finnish defense made a mistake in their build-up play. Undav intercepted the ball and immediately set up Florian Wirtz, who easily tapped the ball into the empty net to make it 2-0.
In the 57th minute, Undav completed his outstanding performance. Young talent Lennart Karl made a powerful burst of speed from midfield before delivering a perfect through pass for the 30-year-old striker to break free and finish neatly, scoring Germany's third goal and completing his personal brace.
But that wasn't all; Jamal Musiala continued to electrify the MEWA Arena crowd in the 63rd minute. Receiving the ball from Aleksandar Pavlovic, the Bayern Munich star unleashed a powerful long-range shot with his left foot, giving goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky no chance to save it.
Germany has a friendly match against the USA on June 7th before opening their Group E World Cup 2026 campaign against Curacao on June 15th.
