- Propaganda, dissemination, and raising awareness of fire prevention, fire fighting, and rescue (PCCC and CNCH) for students are always focused on by schools. However, in order for students to be mentally stable and effectively apply knowledge in practice, equipping them with PCCC skills is extremely necessary.
Educational facilities are places with high potential fire and explosion risks due to the large concentration of people and the presence of flammable materials in areas such as laboratories, kitchens, and garages. Meanwhile, many students lack escape skills, do not know how to handle situations when a fire occurs, and easily panic. Therefore, equipping students with fire prevention knowledge and skills is extremely necessary.
Mr. Dang Hong Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training (DET), said: The whole province has 647 educational establishments with more than 200,000 students. The Department has directed its affiliated units to thoroughly grasp and require all cadres, teachers, employees, and students to strictly implement fire prevention and fighting and rescue solutions, and sign a commitment to ensure security, order, and fire safety at schools and residences.
In parallel, every year the Department of Education and Training closely coordinates with functional forces to organize periodic inspections of security, order, and fire prevention and fighting at educational institutions; at the same time, directs schools to strengthen self-inspection, review, and supplement necessary equipment for fire prevention and fighting.
Right from the first weeks of the new school year, many schools have closely coordinated with the provincial fire police and rescue forces to organize propaganda programs, disseminate knowledge and practice fire prevention skills for students.
In the programs, the Fire and Rescue Police force provided students with information on the fire and explosion situation in the area, the damage to people and property, and pointed out the causes, methods and skills of fire prevention and escape. The students were very proactive and listened because the propaganda content was presented vividly and visually through videos , images, digital learning materials and cleverly integrated into exchange activities, questions and answers, games, etc.
Recorded at Chu Van An High School for the Gifted (Dong Kinh Ward), participating in the propaganda, experience, and practice program of fire fighting and rescue, students participated in a simulated situation of a fire from a classroom that quickly spread to surrounding classrooms. As soon as the alarm sounded, teachers and staff of the school guided students to safely move out of the fire area and take initial fire fighting measures, then coordinated with officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Provincial Police to handle the incident.
In addition, more than 1,000 students of the school visited fire trucks and experienced the use of specialized equipment of the fire fighting force such as Firemax firefighting uniforms, oxygen tanks, Dragger masks...
The children were also guided by the fire prevention and rescue officers and soldiers to practice many useful contents including: using portable fire extinguishers to extinguish simulated fires, initial first aid techniques, escaping from high places using slow-lowering ropes, inclined rope bridges and using fire sprinklers...
Student Luong Manh Hai, class 12D1, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, shared: I was very impressed with the activity of escaping by slowly lowering the rope from above. When I practiced for the first time, I felt both scared and nervous, but when I landed, I felt very confident. In addition, the skill of extinguishing fire with a fire extinguisher was also very useful for me. After this program, I was equipped with a lot of useful knowledge and skills to be able to do better fire prevention and rescue.
To proactively prevent fires and explosions, in addition to propaganda work, schools always focus on managing and safely using fire sources, heat sources and flammable substances, regularly self-checking, maintaining, fixing and immediately supplementing shortcomings in fire prevention and fighting equipment to minimize the risks of fire and explosion at the facility...
Mr. Nguyen Cong Thang, Head of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Committee of the Provincial Boarding Ethnic Minority High School, shared: As a specialized school with 100% boarding students, the school always pays attention to directing the implementation of fire prevention and fighting regulations and is relatively fully equipped with means to meet the requirements of fire prevention and fighting, ensuring the safety of people and property of the school. The school has also established a Fire Prevention and Fighting Team consisting of 15 teachers and staff with a high sense of responsibility in performing assigned tasks. Currently, 32 teachers and staff of the school have been granted Fire Prevention and Fighting certificates. The school also always receives attention from all levels and sectors, and professional assistance from the Provincial Police in fire prevention and fighting work.
Along with that, the Board of Directors has directed the National Defense and Security Education group to equip 100% of students with skills in using fire extinguishers, first aid techniques, and transfer of injured people... All students have a good sense of discipline, and the practice of fire prevention and fighting plans has been carried out smoothly. Thanks to that, for many years, the school has always performed well in fire prevention and fighting work and has been highly appreciated.
On the side of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, over the past 5 years, the Provincial Police have coordinated with the education sector to organize more than 130 propaganda, training, and extracurricular sessions to equip fire prevention and fighting skills at schools with the participation of more than 56,000 students, officials, teachers, and employees. Since the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, the unit has coordinated propaganda at many schools such as: Viet Bac High School, Chu Van An Specialized High School, Hoang Van Thu High School, Tam Thanh Middle School, Tam Thanh Primary School... with more than 4,700 students, officials, teachers, and employees participating.
In the coming time, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department will continue to coordinate with schools in the province to develop propaganda plans and practice plans suitable for each level of education and the actual conditions of each unit, focusing on instructing students on skills to handle situations when fires and explosions occur.
Through practical experience and practice, students will remember knowledge longer, react more quickly to "fire", thereby contributing to building a safe school environment, spreading the spirit of proactive fire prevention in schools, families and communities, especially the young generation of the country in the movement "All people participate in fire prevention". Moreover, through propaganda sessions and experiential activities, students will better understand and appreciate the arduous work of officers and soldiers performing fire prevention and rescue work.
