On June 29, according to information from Gia Dinh People's Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, after a "sleepless night" of urgently retrieving, transporting and transplanting organs from the donated organs of a brain-dead woman due to a traffic accident, 3 other lives were revived.
On June 24, Gia Dinh People's Hospital received a serious traffic accident case, a female NVBT (46 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) in a state of drowsiness and vomiting a lot.
Doctors diagnosed Ms. T. with multiple traumatic shock, traumatic brain injury, severe cerebral edema... Despite dedicated treatment, Ms. T. fell into a deep coma.
After undergoing three assessments, Ms. T. was diagnosed with brain death. Doctors met with Ms. T.'s family, explained her condition clearly, and encouraged her family to consider organ donation to save lives.
Although in great pain, Ms. T's family suppressed their grief and agreed to donate organs to save the lives of other patients.
On the night of June 28, the Gia Dinh People's Hospital's organ retrieval and transplant system was activated in close coordination with the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center. The organ retrieval and transplant plan was accurate to the minute.
“This is the third case of a brain-dead person donating organs at the hospital. We have established a brain-dead assessment board and conducted three consultations, confirming that the patient is completely brain-dead. Each professional meeting, each decision, is a respect for the donor’s life and a hope for the recipient,” said Dr. Mai Phan Tuong Anh, Deputy Director of Gia Dinh People’s Hospital.

At 4am on June 29, a solemn gratitude ceremony was held right in front of the operating room. Immediately afterwards, the organ retrieval process took place under extremely strict conditions with the participation of many medical teams from leading hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to ensure that the organs were safely retrieved and transported to organ transplant centers in the shortest possible time.
Next, at 5:10 a.m. the same day, two kidneys were removed and transplanted into two patients with end-stage chronic kidney failure right at Gia Dinh People's Hospital with the support of doctors from Cho Ray Hospital.
The donor's heart, after being successfully retrieved, was escorted by traffic police to Tan Son Nhat airport and transferred to Hue Central Hospital for transplantation into a patient with end-stage heart failure.
At around 9:00 a.m. on June 29, Hue Central Hospital announced that after performing a heart transplant from a brain-dead donor, the recipient's heart started beating again.
Thus, three more lives were revived from the precious source of donated organs, once again affirming the noble act of organ donation to save lives./.
