Research to rearrange the distance appropriately
Regarding the article “Dazzled by LED lights surrounding the green city of Tra Vinh”, on June 1, a source from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province said that the department had asked contractors to temporarily stop construction to adjust the design, and at the same time delay the completion time of the project (according to plan, the project will be completed before June 3).
The Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee to direct the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to closely inspect and supervise the construction of the project to invest in installing a welcome gate system and decorative lights in the center of Tra Vinh city, ensuring urban aesthetics and electrical safety, while studying the arrangement of reasonable distances between decorative lights on the roads.
Avoid placing too densely, causing glare and affecting drivers on the road.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province, the welcome gate and LED lighting system in Tra Vinh city includes some roads invested by the department and some roads that Tra Vinh city had built before.
As for the roads built by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh, they are currently mainly under construction.
Of which, there are 27 locations on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street; 32 locations on Pham Ngu Lao Street; 11 locations on 19-5 Street; 33 locations on Nguyen Dang Street; 19 locations on Dien Bien Phu Street; 72 locations on the embankment road and a number of welcome gates, LED gates at a number of roundabouts...

Previously, Tra Vinh City residents and tourists did not agree with the installation of too many LED lights and decorative welcome gates on the inner streets of Tra Vinh City - the city known as the "city of trees".
According to records, on Hung Vuong Street, the section from Le Loi Street to Bach Dang Street is only a few hundred meters long, but every 50 meters there is an LED light pole across the road, looking very confusing.
People living on this street said that since the LED lights were installed, the light shining into their homes at night has been very uncomfortable. Many passersby have been dazzled, affecting their vision.
A reader named Huynh wrote: "At first, I found it beautiful because it was strange and eye-catching, but gradually I found it annoying and cheesy. It didn't seem modern at all, it just consumed electricity."
Reader Tra Hoa said: "LED lights are very beautiful but should only be concentrated in certain areas for certain events."
Reader Le Kien Pho wrote: "Light pollution is pollution caused by artificial light that is too bright, not focused on the design target (for example: roads) but shines and glares in places where it should not be (for example: houses on the roadside).
Sources of light pollution can be street lights, festival lights, events, reflective glass covering the outside of buildings, advertising signs…
Light pollution has a very negative impact on people, causing sleep, mental, behavioral and visual disorders. The government needs to seriously review the causes of light pollution to protect the safety and health of the people."
Commenting to the authorities, reader VT wrote: "Seeing the small, low yellow lights installed between the trees creates a magical space when walking at night and it is more suitable for a green city than LED lights which are only suitable for bustling cities."
The project to invest in installing a welcome gate system and decorative lights at the center of Tra Vinh City is invested by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province.
According to the project approval decision of Tra Vinh City People's Committee, the project's goal is to celebrate major holidays, important political and cultural events and other holidays of the year in the province.
Urban decoration is a very important job contributing to the beautification, upgrading and urban development of Tra Vinh city (Tra Vinh province).
Building a bright, green, clean and beautiful image of Tra Vinh urban area contributes to promoting the image of green urban tourism in Tra Vinh to local people and domestic and foreign tourists.
The project includes a welcome gate on Highway 60, LED gate decoration at some roundabouts in Tra Vinh City and LED lighting decoration on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Nguyen Dang Street, Pham Ngu Lao Street, 19-5 Street, Dien Bien Phu Street, embankment road... with a total investment of more than 39.2 billion VND.
