On the afternoon of May 15, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , answering reporters' questions regarding China's recent unilateral imposition of a fishing ban in the East Sea, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated:

Vietnam's stance on China's fishing ban in the East Sea is consistent and has been affirmed many times. Vietnam demands that China respect Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago as well as its sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction over Vietnam's maritime zones established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), respect the rights of Vietnamese fishermen to legally operate in Vietnam's maritime zones and maritime zones beyond national jurisdiction in accordance with international law, especially UNCLOS 1982; refrain from actions that complicate the situation, and contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and law-based maritime order in the East Sea.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has communicated with the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi and also handed over a diplomatic note protesting the above fishing ban.

Also at the press conference, answering reporters' questions regarding China and Cambodia's implementation of the annual joint military exercise called Golden Dragon 2025, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated: "We believe that cooperation between countries needs to actively contribute to peace, security, stability and prosperity in the region as well as in the world, in accordance with international practices and on the basis of international law and the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter"./.
