Cooperation exchange between Da Nang and Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (China)

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong said that the city is focusing on developing economic sectors such as high-tech industry and tourism services.

In 2024, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on organizing the urban government model and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city, including allowing Da Nang to pilot a free trade zone and being the first locality in the country to be allowed to do so.

Da Nang Free Trade Zone is expected to have functional areas: production, logistics; trade - services; digital technology industry, innovation and other types of functional areas according to the provisions of law.

In addition, Da Nang was also selected to build a regional international financial center according to Notice No. 47-TB/TW of the Politburo on building a regional and international financial center in Vietnam.

Da Nang is also promoting the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors with solutions mainly attracting investment, increasing human resource training, preparing infrastructure and implementing policies.

The city hopes that the delegation will share some experiences on the organization model and planning for the development of the Shenzhen special economic zone, priority areas for development, breakthrough special policies and mechanisms to help the Shenzhen special economic zone develop effectively, measures to attract and manage strategic investors and share lessons learned in the process of forming and developing the special economic zone.

At the meeting, members of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Research Center delegation were interested in the new development models that Da Nang is building, which are free trade zones and financial centers.

According to Professor Dao Nhat Dao, Director of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Research Center and Director of the Belt and Road Research Institute (Shenzhen University), after 10 years of returning to Da Nang, he has seen many changes in the economic and social infrastructure. This proves that Da Nang is developing very quickly. The professor also expressed his support for the city's orientation to develop modern services, high technology, and financial technology.

Regarding the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, this is China's first special economic zone established in May 1980. The most important sector in the zone is high technology. Shenzhen city has strengths in information technology and many sectors similar to Da Nang's development orientation, which is a favorable condition for the two localities to promote cooperation in the coming time.
