Awarding the 'Golden Hammer and Sickle - Nghe An 2023' Journalism Prize

Attending the ceremony were: Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Steering Committee for the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award of Nghe An province; Mr. Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Major General Phan Van Sy - Deputy Head of Political Affairs of Military Region 4; Mr. Bui Duy Dong - Secretary of the Do Luong District Party Committee; Journalist Tran Minh Ngoc - Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, Director of Nghe An Provincial Radio and Television Station.

Also attending were representatives from provincial departments and agencies, leaders of media organizations, and journalists from both the local and central levels based in Nghe An province.

In 2023, in response to the "Golden Hammer and Sickle" journalism competition on Party building launched by the Central Committee, and under the direction of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Head of the Steering Committee for the "Golden Hammer and Sickle" Journalism Award of Nghe An province, the Provincial Journalists Association coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Department of Information and Communications to issue a document launching the competition and developing the rules, receiving a positive response from a large number of reporters, members, and media agencies operating in the province.

In addition to the 3 press agencies of Nghe An province, there are also 18 resident press agencies, 13 Cultural, Sports and Communication Centers of districts, cities and towns, and 10 units outside of press agencies, as well as collaborators inside and outside the province, who submitted entries to the competition.

Out of thousands of entries submitted for broadcast, media organizations and authors selected 133 works across five journalistic categories: print, online, radio and television, and photojournalism.

Overall, the works comprehensively, vividly, and multifacetedly reflected the work of Party building, building the political system, and successfully implementing the policies and resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels in Nghe An in 2023.

Many works have been insightful, highlighting good deeds and exemplary cadres and Party members to spread and encourage the movement; at the same time, they reflect on existing problems and shortcomings, combat negative behaviors, corruption, and waste, contributing to the socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the province.

The judging panel of the Provincial Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, in a spirit of democracy, responsibility, honesty, and objectivity, unanimously selected 42 outstanding works to honor and award prizes, including 3 First Prizes; 8 Second Prizes; 13 Third Prizes; and 18 Consolation Prizes.

The Steering Committee for the Nghe An Golden Hammer and Sickle Journalism Award has decided to commend 4 collectives and 2 individuals for their outstanding achievements in directing the implementation of the 2023 Golden Hammer and Sickle Award in Nghe An, including: the Military Region 4 Newspaper; the Special Programs Department, Nghe An Radio and Television Station; the Current Affairs - Politics Department, Nghe An Newspaper; the Propaganda Department of the Quynh Luu District Party Committee; Comrade Le Quoc Khanh - Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Nghe An Golden Hammer and Sickle Award; and the leaders of the Tan Ky District Culture-Sports and Communication Center (in charge of the journalism section).

The Steering Committee of the Nghe An Golden Hammer and Sickle Journalism Award also decided to award prizes to 3 outstanding authors and individuals participating in the competition, including: Mr. Ha Lac (89 years old), a contributor to the Military Region 4 Newspaper - the oldest author with a submitted work; reporter Ho Ngan Hanh (24 years old), from the Current Affairs - Politics Department of the Nghe An Newspaper - the youngest author with a submitted work and a winning entry; and Mr. Phan Van Hai - Party Secretary and Chairman of the Fisheries Association of Quynh Lap commune (Hoang Mai town), an outstanding individual in the work "Because Phan Hai is a Party member".

On this occasion, the Steering Committee of the 2023 Nghe An Provincial Golden Hammer and Sickle Award decided to commend five outstanding thematic works on the topic of Party building.

Outstanding thematic works on the topic of Party building:

1. Outstanding work promoting the implementation of the Party Congress Resolution: "Leadership at the grassroots level," by authors Mai Giang, Le Dong, and Xuan Hai (Dien Chau District Culture, Sports and Communication Center).

2. Outstanding work promoting innovation and improving the quality of political and ideological education: "The role of youth in protecting the ideological foundation of the Party," by authors Chu Thi Khanh Ly and Nguyen Tien Dong (Nghe An Newspaper).

3. Outstanding work on propaganda about protecting the Party's ideological foundation and combating "peaceful evolution": "Identifying and combating false and distorted arguments about the work of preventing and combating corruption and negative phenomena," by author Nguyen Van Thuc (Vinh City Police).

4. Outstanding work promoting the results of accelerating administrative reform and digital transformation at all levels and sectors in the province: "Arranging administrative units - not just addition", by authors Hoa Mơ - Hữu Dũng - Nguyễn Thủy (Nghe An Radio and Television Station).

5. Outstanding work promoting the theme of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style: "Forever in Our Hearts," by authors Nguyen Thi Nga and Tran Thi Thanh Hoa (Cultural, Sports and Communication Center of Nghi Loc District).

At the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee, and Deputy Head of the Standing Steering Committee for the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award of Nghe An province - launched the "Golden Hammer and Sickle Award – Nghe An 2024" and expressed hope that the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award would continue to receive great support and enthusiasm, with the exploration and creativity of writers on the "front" of the Party.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong affirmed: 2024, a pivotal year in the 19th term of the Provincial Party Committee and the 13th National Party Congress, presents many significant tasks, requiring greater political determination and effort to realize the aspirations and vision for the province's development in the new period.

Therefore, in preparation for the new term and to achieve the set goals in the province's development and innovation in the coming period, the comrade hopes that the press will continue to accompany the media on the comprehensive information and propaganda front in all fields, especially in the propaganda work of Party building, thereby strengthening the people's trust and love for the Party.
