To ensure that her journey to find knowledge is not interrupted, Ms. Dinh Thi Hanh - CEO of Saigon Star Beauty Salon used her own money to buy books and donated equipment to students in flood-affected areas.
Give love through practical actions
Born in Quang Binh - a land that often suffers from storms and floods every year, Ms. Hanh understands better than anyone the difficulties and hardships of flood recovery work. Therefore, when hearing news about the effects of storm Yagi on the northern provinces, although living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Hanh always closely followed and planned to join hands to help people in the flooded areas.
Ms. Hanh donated books, notebooks, and school supplies to children in flood-affected areas.
Seeing that many schools were flooded, and that students' books and school supplies were swept away and buried in mud, Ms. Hanh planned to donate books and school supplies to help them return to school soon. In fact, Ms. Hanh had already donated books in 2020 when the flood hit her hometown. Realizing that these were practical gifts for students in flood-affected areas, Ms. Hanh spent nearly 400 million VND to buy textbooks, notebooks, backpacks, and school supplies to donate to schools in the North affected by the flood.
When sharing the plan on social media asking the community to connect with teachers in flooded areas to donate books and notebooks, Ms. Hanh received a lot of attention from everyone. With more than 1.6 million shares and hundreds of comments, Ms. Hanh was able to connect with many schools to receive donations of books and notebooks for students. In particular, Mr. Vu The Giap in Yen Phong, Bac Ninh was ready to support as a gift receiving point, calling on volunteers to come and sort, pack according to the school's quantity and deliver directly to the place.
Besides books, Mr. Giap's group also donated old clothes, rice, pots, pans, spices... to give to people in flooded areas. The practical gifts on the charity bus were quickly delivered to the connected schools. On September 15 and 20, Mr. Giap directly gave gifts to 13 schools in Lao Cai . Looking at the images sent directly from the schools, Ms. Hanh felt moved and emotional.
Continue to call for extending the love bus to the flooded areas
Ms. Hanh and everyone continue to donate books and school supplies to students in flood-affected areas.
After completing the first two donations, realizing that there were still many schools in need of help, Ms. Hanh continued to call on acquaintances, friends and partners to support more school supplies for students in flooded areas. Ms. Hanh's beauty salon on Le Hong Phong Street, District 10 became a gathering point for goods.
Not only acquaintances, friends, partners, hundreds of philanthropists in Ho Chi Minh City, upon hearing the call, came to give gifts to Ms. Hanh to send to the children in the flood-hit areas. Ms. Hanh shared, "Looking at the "mountain" of gifts sent to the beauty salon, I felt extremely moved. That's how Vietnamese people are, the spirit of mutual love is very high. Although all the beauty salon staff had to do extra work, everyone was busy receiving, sorting, arranging, and packing, everyone was enthusiastic and supportive with the desire to contribute to help the students have the conditions to go to school."
In a preliminary summary, Ms. Hanh received more than 8,000 notebooks, 7,000 pens, pencils, hundreds of backpacks and school supplies such as crayons, pencils... All were neatly arranged into gift sets to be transported to schools. The love bus continued on its way to the children.
Despite the long and difficult journey, with love, Ms. Hanh and her companions overcame everything to personally deliver each gift to the sisters. Teacher Nguyen Manh Hai at Xuan Quang 1 Primary School, Bao Thang District, Lao Cai Province shared: " Thank you Ms. Hanh's group for not being afraid of the long journey to come to the school to deliver gifts to the students. Your gifts are extremely practical, helping to support the children to go to school."
