At noon on February 20, after additional mobilization, a force of nearly 840 people (of which 640 people directly participated in fire fighting) began moving to the fire spots in Hoang Lien Son National Park.
After more than 3 hours of traveling by motorbike and on foot from Ta Van ranger station, Sa Pa town, the support force reached the fire spots in the fire area of sub-area 186 of Hoang Lien National Park.
The path to the fire sites is a steep trail, with a steep cliff on one side and a deep stream on the other. The journey is less than 5km but extremely arduous and difficult.
At the gathering point in sub-region 186, the authorities divided the teams to different locations to put out the fire, contain it, and prevent it from spreading.
Following the authorities, reporters recorded the regenerating forest patches burning down the vegetation layer.
Many forests were burned down.
The ground left patches of black ash, the remaining trees also withered due to the effects of the fires.
At the time the reporter was present, the Na Hang area towards Den Thanh village, Ta Van commune was still burning fiercely.
This is a large fire at an altitude of about 1,900m above sea level, with complex and dangerous terrain, strong winds that constantly change direction, and dry weather, so it tends to spread and cause difficulties for the forces.
On the same afternoon, Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, went to the scene to inspect and direct forest fire fighting work.
Present at the temporary Command Center, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed the People's Committee of Sa Pa town to coordinate with functional forces to continue implementing the fire fighting plan according to the "4 on-site" motto.
At the same time, carefully analyze the scene, actively deploy forest fire fighting plans to ensure safety and effectiveness; prepare well the logistics conditions, ensure adequate food and water supplies for the forces directly participating in forest fire fighting in the field.
Up to now, 2 out of 3 fire spots in Hoang Lien Son National Park have been controlled. According to preliminary statistics, the fire area is about 25 hectares (mainly poor forest, cogon grass, reeds and ground cover).
Urgently control the fire in Hoang Lien Son, do not let it spread to other areas!
