At Terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat International Airport, passengers checking in at the airport were guided by the police and airline staff to check in online via the VNeID application. After that, passengers will have their faces authenticated using a specialized scanner.
Once completed, passengers do not need to go through security checks, ticket checks, and boarding documents. Instead, at security check areas, authorities will set up facial recognition scanners. It only takes a few seconds for people to complete the procedures to enter the airport.

Mr. Nguyen Vu Khuong Duy, resident of Tan Thoi Nhat ward, Ho Chi Minh City shared: "Normally, it takes a long time to complete the procedures, about half an hour to 45 minutes to get inside the airport. Now, implementing this biometric will be very convenient and fast, convenient for people, it only takes 10-15 minutes to get inside."

According to Ho Chi Minh City Police, this is the second phase of the plan to apply digital technology throughout the civil aviation industry, helping passengers carry out security procedures, check-in, and board flights through the VNeID application integrating biometric data (face), gradually replacing the traditional method of presenting documents. This brings many practical benefits, not only for passengers but also contributes to improving management efficiency, aviation security, and promoting national digital transformation.
Lieutenant Colonel Ho Duc Thien, Deputy Head of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Ho Chi Minh City Police, said: “For people, using VNeID integrated with biometric data such as face and fingerprint will help the aviation check-in process become faster, more convenient and safer. With just a mobile device installed with VNeID, passengers can check-in online, verify their identity, go through security and board the plane without having to carry many types of documents like before.”
For authorities, electronic identification and biometric technology helps increase the accuracy of information authentication, minimize the risk of using fake documents, facilitate tighter passenger control, and contribute to ensuring aviation security and national safety. At the same time, unified identification data on VNeID helps connect ministries, sectors and related units, saving time, human resources and administrative costs.
