On the morning of July 26, at Terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with the National Population Data Center, Vietnam Airports Corporation, Immigration Police Department - Ministry of Public Security , Vietnam Airlines Corporation and related units officially deployed the solution of electronic identification, authentication and biometric recognition on the VNeID application to serve passengers checking in at Terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
When checking in at Terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat International Airport, passengers are guided by the police and airline staff to check-in online via the VNeID application.
Passengers will then have their faces authenticated using a dedicated scanner.
Once completed, passengers do not need to go through security checks, check tickets, and boarding documents. Instead, at the security check areas, authorities will arrange facial recognition scanners. It only takes a few seconds for people to complete the procedures to enter the area inside the airport.

According to Ho Chi Minh City Police, this is the second phase of the plan to apply digital technology throughout the civil aviation industry, helping passengers carry out security procedures, check-in, and board flights through the VNeID application integrating biometric data (face), gradually replacing the traditional method of presenting documents.
This brings many practical benefits, not only for passengers but also contributes to improving management efficiency, aviation security and promoting national digital transformation.
Lieutenant Colonel Ho Duc Thien, Deputy Head of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Ho Chi Minh City Police, said: “For people, using VNeID integrated with biometric data such as face and fingerprint will help the aviation check-in process become faster, more convenient and safer. With just a mobile device installed with VNeID, passengers can check-in online, verify their identity, go through security and board the plane without having to carry many types of documents like before.”
For authorities, electronic identification and biometric technology helps increase the accuracy of information authentication, minimize the risk of using fake documents, facilitate tighter passenger control, and contribute to ensuring aviation security and national safety. At the same time, unified identification data on VNeID helps connect ministries, sectors and related units, saving time, human resources and administrative costs.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh, Officer of the Information Technology Team of the Terminal Operation Center, Tan Son Nhat International Airport, shared: "In the past time, we have made careful preparations and coordinated with network operators to have the best transmission line so that passengers are not interrupted when doing procedures. This morning, the system operated very stably, no system errors were recorded."
In the long term, this is a fundamental step in the roadmap for comprehensive digitalization of air transport operations, towards the formation of a smart, paperless airport ecosystem, serving passengers in more modern, civilized and convenient ways. This is very convenient in the current period when people's demand for air travel is increasing.
The use of VNeID integrated with biometrics (face) during check-in and security procedures at the airport is a concrete demonstration of the shift from traditional document verification to digital authentication. This is the core content of Project 06, helping to form a digital ecosystem serving people in everyday life situations.
Biometric technology helps authenticate identities many times more accurately than checking documents with the naked eye. Application in the aviation sector - where security is highly required - shows the effectiveness and reliability of identification data in preventing and detecting fraudulent behavior and the use of fake documents.
This is in line with the "sharing-connecting-integrating" orientation that Project 06 emphasizes, moving towards the goal of "each citizen - one electronic identification - one transaction account with the State and society"./.
