Photo exhibition "Independence Autumn"

On the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the Provincial Museum and Library organized an exhibition with the theme "Independence Autumn" at the campus of the special national relic site of Son La Prison.

The exhibition displays and introduces to the people and visitors 80 precious photos and documents that have been carefully collected and selected, recreating important historical milestones associated with the historic August of 1945. The exhibition consists of 2 main parts.

Part 1 - with the theme "Historical Autumn 1945" introduces to viewers the historical story of Vietnam under colonial rule. It begins with the attack on Son Tra peninsula, Da Nang in 1858 by the French - Spanish coalition, opening the door to nearly a century of French colonial rule in Vietnam. The painful pages of history are also the premise for the indomitable will and aspiration for independence of the nation. Next are images of the revolutionary climax from 1941-1945, up to the historical milestone of September 2, 1945, the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Part 2 with the theme “Son La - Forever the spirit of the August Revolution” introduces valuable images and documents about the revolutionary movement against French colonialism in Son La. Especially images of important milestones, such as: The event of moving the provincial capital of Van Bu to Son La and changing its name to Son La; the birth of the Provisional Party Cell; 2 Youth Rescue Groups “Mú nôm chat muông”, the Youth Rescue Group in Mường Chanh was born; the newspaper “Lạc Mường”; the day Son La was completely liberated...

The photo exhibition “Independence Autumn” is an opportunity to review the heroic history, pay tribute to the contributions of previous generations, and at the same time arouse national pride, foster the will and aspiration to build Son La homeland to become increasingly rich, civilized and modern. The exhibition will welcome visitors from August 18 to September 2.
