Entering the second set, the Vietnamese player was still full of spirit when he led his opponent 6-0 and then won with a score of 11-4, making the confrontation tense.
In the deciding set, thanks to the home-court mentality, Jack Wong had a very favorable start and quickly led 6-0. However, in a difficult situation, Trinh Linh Giang showed his mettle by changing his tactics.
The Vietnamese player proactively placed short balls into the "kitchen" (the area near the net), forcing Wong to move continuously. This tactic was effective when Linh Giang turned the game around, leading 9-6, forcing his opponent to ask for medical advice.
Returning to the match, Trinh Linh Giang suddenly lost his form, continuously making mistakes and letting Jack Wong lead 10-9. At the decisive point, the Vietnamese player pushed the ball to Wong's forehand, creating an opportunity for his opponent to quickly finish at the net.
Losing 9-11, Linh Giang could only hold his head in disappointment, while Wong burst into joy of victory in front of the cheers of the home crowd.
After the bitter defeat in the Pro men's singles final, Trinh Linh Giang seemed to be clearly affected. He continued to miss the title in the Pro mixed doubles final, when he and his teammate Connie Lee lost to the pair Aiko Yoshitomi and Robert Stirling with a score of 1-11, 7-11.
Despite not being able to win any event, Trinh Linh Giang still became the first Vietnamese representative to reach the finals of two events at the Pro level of the PPA Tour Asia system. This is a positive signal, showing that the potential of pickleball in the country is growing day by day.
