The second leg of the semi-final between PSG and Arsenal promises to be very exciting and dramatic as both are aiming for a ticket to the Champions League final.

Besides the heat of this match, football fans also focused their attention on the "king in black", when the European Football Federation (UEFA) confirmed that German referee Zwayer will officiate the match at Parc des Princes (Paris, France).

The 43-year-old referee is considered by UEFA to be one of the most experienced referees in Europe, with 684 matches officiated in his career. However, what has caught the attention of both Arsenal and PSG fans is the German referee's tainted past.

In 2005, Zwayer was suspended for six months for his involvement in a high-profile match-fixing scandal in Germany. He received £250 from his colleague Robert Hoyzer, who was later sentenced to more than two years in prison and banned from football for life. Although he was not directly involved in the incident, Zwayer was still punished.

Despite the scandal, Zwayer's career has been little affected. In 2009, the German referee was selected to officiate in the Bundesliga. Since then, he has gradually become a familiar face in the Champions League and Euro.

The last time Zwayer was chosen to referee an important match was the Euro 2024 semi-final between England and the Netherlands.

UEFA's continued selection of Zwayer shows that the German referee's credibility is gradually being restored to the organization. However, in an important match like the Champions League semi-final, the decisions made by the "man in black" will still be closely scrutinized.

The match between PSG and Arsenal taking place at 2am on May 8 at Parc des Princes will be an opportunity for Zwayer to continue to highlight his role and affirm his reputation in European and world football.
