Each satellite integrates an intelligent computing system, linked by a 100 Gbps high-speed laser transmission line, providing a total of 5 POPS of computing power and 30 TB of initial storage.
Each satellite is capable of processing up to 744,000 billion calculations per second and uses an 8-billion-parameter AI model to directly process data collected in orbit, which significantly reduces the amount of data that needs to be transmitted to the ground, which is often limited by bandwidth and receiving station infrastructure.

The project is led by Zhejiang Lab, in collaboration with technology companies such as Guoxing Aerospace (developing smart satellite platforms) and HiStarlink (designing inter-satellite laser communications).
According to experts, this is a big step forward in the space cloud computing trend , helping to take advantage of solar energy, reduce carbon emissions and overcome the limitations of ground data centers, which consume up to 1,000 TWh of electricity per year and tens of billions of liters of cooling water.
The project not only has scientific and economic significance but also opens up strategic potential in the defense sector. This is the first time a country has deployed a large-scale AI satellite constellation for computing purposes in orbit.
