According to SCMP , the robotics market in China is projected to grow strongly in the coming years. The industry could reach $108 billion by 2028, an increase of nearly 130% from $47 billion in 2024. This assessment comes from a research report published by Morgan Stanley on June 17th, reflecting the East Asian nation's growing role in the global robotics industry.

According to Morgan Stanley analysts Sheng Zhong and Chelsea Wang, China currently holds approximately 40% of the global robotics market share, the highest in the world . While the report doesn't provide specific figures for the future, experts emphasize that the country with the world's largest population is not only the largest market but also plays a central role in innovation, driving the development of a new generation of robots thanks to its cost and technological advantages.

"Robots are reshaping China's manufacturing industry. In the future, as robots become smarter, more agile, and more affordable, they will have an increasingly profound impact on society," according to a report by Morgan Stanley.

Data from China's National Bureau of Statistics shows that industrial robot production in May reached over 69,000 units, a 35.5% increase year-on-year. Production of service robots also increased by 13.8%, reaching approximately 1.2 million units.

Robotics is a core area of the "Made in China 2025" strategy, launched a decade ago to position China as a leader in high-tech manufacturing. Currently, the country accounts for more than half of the global industrial robot market and is home to approximately 741,700 robotics companies.

Furthermore, Morgan Stanley predicts that drones will become the next big sector in China, with market value expected to increase from $19 billion in 2024 to $40 billion in 2028. Meanwhile, the humanoid robot market also promises explosive growth at a rate of 63% per year, from $300 million currently to $3.4 billion by 2030.

According to the report, China could possess approximately 252,000 humanoid robots by 2030 and reach 302 million units by 2050, equivalent to 30% of the total global humanoid robots. 2024 is considered a turning point for this field, as mass production has already begun.
