According to Mr. Huynh Trung Son - Director of Khatoco Ninh Hoa Ostrich Breeding Center, the center has a total area of 122 hectares; the total ostrich herd has more than 600 breeding ostriches, 3,500 commercial ostriches; annually supplying the market with more than 3,000 breeding ostriches, 170 tons of meat and more than 3,000 ostrich skins for the tanning industry. The center has a system of barns and workshops built to meet national standards, water sources, food, and wastewater are strictly controlled and meet the prescribed conditions. The center's barn system is large, invested in modernly, meeting the standards of livestock farming and food hygiene and safety.

The center has a closed production model, from the stages of breeding, hatching eggs, raising commercial ostriches, veterinary care... The hatched eggs weigh from 1.2 to 2.2 kg, and will hatch after about 42 days in the incubator. The baby ostriches are given special care, when they are young they are raised in a covered house, then brought out into the yard to get used to the sunlight and the surrounding environment. This nurturing process lasts about 3 months before they are moved to a larger barn area. Currently, Khatoco Ninh Hoa Ostrich Breeding Center is the place to provide baby ostriches from 7 days old to 2 - 3 months old for breeding facilities, with a total of more than 3,000 birds/year.

Product diversification

In addition to providing quality breeding stock to serve the needs of commercial ostrich farming nationwide, Khatoco also develops a variety of ostrich products. Most parts of the ostrich are valuable: Ostrich leather is considered by experts to be the most resilient leather in the world, 5 times more durable than normal cowhide, used to produce high-end leather fashion products; ostrich eggshells, feathers, and claws are used to make handicrafts.

In particular, when talking about the value of ostriches, we must mention the meat. The meat of the world's largest bird is known as the "clean meat source of the 21st century". Ostriches are inherently resistant to disease, and antibiotics are not used during the breeding process. The diet of this bird is rich in fiber, mainly vegetables and grass. In addition, according to the report analyzing the nutritional content of foods by the US Department of Agriculture , ostrich meat is low in fat, has a protein content equivalent to beef, and much lower cholesterol than pork, beef, and chicken, helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, overweight, obesity, etc. In addition, ostrich meat is also rich in iron, which is very beneficial for pregnant women, people with anemia, and is suitable for the elderly, helping to reduce the risk of chronic diseases and strengthen the body's immune system.

According to Mr. Huynh Trung Son, taking advantage of the initiative in the closed livestock process from breeding - raising - processing - consuming products, Khatoco has promoted the development of ostrich meat products. Khatoco ostrich meat products are certified with the international standard Food Safety Management System ISO 22000:2005.
