With persistent campaigning, the people will trust and follow.
At 54 years old, Mr. Hung has dedicated a significant amount of time to social work. Starting as a militia member, he was elected village head in 2000, then Party branch secretary and village head from 2017. For the local people, he is not only dedicated but also inspires a spirit of unity to build a more prosperous homeland.
He maintained and effectively implemented many successful models of mass mobilization, such as: every household displaying the national flag, every family having a picture of President Ho Chi Minh; model residential areas associated with building smart rural areas; model roads; and clean canals.
Today, Cau Ong Bui hamlet has a well-developed transportation system, a cultural center, and a bright, green, clean, and beautiful landscape. To achieve these results, Mr. Hung had to persistently persuade and mobilize each household.
For example, when the 850-meter-long main road in the hamlet was about to be expanded, many people said, "Building a road is good, but donating land is very difficult, Mr. Hung!" However, he never gave up. He and the Hamlet Mobilization Committee persistently went to each house, explaining the long-term benefits in detail. He visited some households more than 10 times. Gradually, the people understood and agreed to donate more than 2,550 square meters of land and contribute about 150 million VND to expand the road.
The model of "Every house displays the national flag, every family has a picture of President Ho Chi Minh" is being exemplified by Doan Cong Hung, Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Cau Ong Bui Hamlet, An Luc Long Commune, Chau Thanh District.
In 2024, Mr. Hung pioneered the effort to mobilize philanthropists to contribute 100 million VND to upgrade the cultural hamlet's headquarters, with residents contributing over 50 days of labor. Mr. Hung smiled kindly and said, "If you only state the policy without persistently mobilizing support and working alongside the people, it cannot succeed."
Fostering a spirit of unity
With the spirit of "helping those in need," and "those with less helping those with even less," every year, Mr. Hung mobilizes about 20 gift packages to support families facing sudden hardship in the commune, and takes care of the remaining two poor, single-parent households in the hamlet. Thanks to his efforts, the hamlet now has no near-poor households and basically no households in difficult circumstances.
Besides focusing on people's livelihoods, Mr. Hung also pays special attention to the living environment. Every year, the hamlet's Party branch issues a thematic resolution on environmental protection to contribute to maintaining this criterion of the model new rural commune. He himself also pioneered in dealing with water hyacinths in the canals, collecting waste, and mobilizing people to preserve a green, clean, and beautiful environment.
"If we lead by example, then the people will follow. In everything, officials must first set a good example!" - Mr. Hung shared.
Mr. Doan Cong Hung has always been at the forefront of local movements.
Besides his dedication to social work, Mr. Hung is also a shining example of self-reliance. Although his family only owns 750 square meters of land for growing dragon fruit, thanks to hard work and frugality, he and his wife have been able to provide for their three children's education and maintain a stable family income .
Mr. Hung believed: "To care for the people, one must first take good care of one's own family." It was this spirit of self-reliance and exemplary conduct that earned him prestige and fostered consensus among the people.
For over 25 years as a village head, and over 8 years as Party branch secretary and village head, Mr. Hung has always "spoken in a way that the people listen to and acted in a way that the people trust." He doesn't offer grand theories but starts with the smallest things, fostering a spirit of unity and creating consensus among the people in implementing patriotic emulation movements and campaigns.
For eight consecutive years, Mr. Hung was recognized as an outstanding Party member (from 2017-2024). But for him, the greatest reward is the trust and affection the people have for him.

Amidst the lights emanating from his humble home, Mr. Hung remains busy with his community work. Ahead lies the new road in Cau Ong Bui hamlet, soon to be constructed. But for him, it's not just a road; it's a journey of building trust, so that each resident can be proud of their contribution to building their homeland.
