Mr. Huynh Quang Liem - General Director of VNPT Group and Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong - Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU-HCM signed a cooperation agreement.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU-HCM and VNPT have established an official cooperative relationship since 2017 to develop human resources and deploy smart urban solutions. After 08 years, the two sides continue to elevate their partnership, marking a new step forward in coordinating to promote technological initiatives to serve national strategic goals and train highly qualified engineering human resources.
Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong said that this cooperation basically implements two major policies of the Central Committee: Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, national digital transformation and Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development.
Accordingly, the two sides focus on researching, developing and applying new technologies, especially core technologies in the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductor microchips, chips, etc. These are all areas of national investment priority according to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, and are also the strengths of the School's training and research as well as VNPT's production and business.
Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong said that the University of Technology - VNU-HCM and VNPT aim to jointly develop photoconductive chips and AI chips at the edge. At the same time, the two sides will also strengthen the operation of the joint laboratory between the school and enterprises - established since the cooperation in 2017 - to carry out scientific tasks and expand the commercialization of technology products.
According to Mr. Huynh Quang Liem - General Director of VNPT Group, VNPT is on the way to transforming from a traditional telecommunications service provider to a comprehensive technology corporation. Possessing a widespread telecommunications infrastructure, a team of experts in information technology, data and artificial intelligence, VNPT is undertaking the mission of accompanying the Government in building a digital government, digital economy and digital society in Vietnam.
"We do not want cooperation to stop at 'signing', but will turn it into action - through specific projects, research results and technology products deployed in practice" - Mr. Liem shared.
In addition, in the spirit of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW promoting school-enterprise linkages and enhancing in-company training to meet market demands, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU and VNPT agreed to create conditions for students to access the real working environment through internships and work at VNPT. This is also a premise for Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU to promote specialized specialized engineering training programs and business semesters.
Leaders of both sides expect that this cooperation upgrade will be a typical illustration of the "three-party" linkage model (school - enterprise - State) in Vietnam in the context of the State's legal corridor for science and technology becoming more open, creating more favorable conditions for businesses and schools to join hands to promote the content of science and technology in research, training, production and business activities according to the needs of each side./.
