The visit aims to establish cooperative relations with the UK Supreme Court; study the organizational structure and operation of the UK court system, experience in resolving commercial disputes, especially experience in resolving disputes at the International Financial Centre; and research on case law and judicial training.
During the visit, Chief Justice Le Minh Tri worked with Sir Robert Reed, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. Chief Justice Le Minh Tri affirmed that the delegation's visit is of great significance in the context of Vietnam building a Law on Specialized Courts at the International Financial Center. Vietnam highly appreciates the experience of the UK, a country with a successful and prestigious common law system in resolving disputes at the International Financial Center. During the law-making process, the Supreme People's Court has been receiving effective cooperation from experienced British experts.
Chief Justice Reed affirmed that the British Court is ready to share information and experience in areas that the Vietnamese Court wants to learn about. The Chief Justice shared good practices of the British Court and many countries in the world related to the development of the Law on Special Courts at the International Financial Center, and the organization and operation of this court, focusing on issues of jurisdiction, application of law, language of trial, enforcement of judgments and training and appointment of judges.
At the meeting with Baroness Sue Carr, Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal for England and Wales, Chief Justice Le Minh Tri discussed the work of adjudication and training of judges. He emphasized that the Supreme Court of Vietnam is in the process of judicial reform, constantly improving adjudication activities and training of judges to meet the requirements and trust of the people. Chief Justice Carr highly appreciated the delegation's visit and work in the UK and shared about adjudication activities and training of judges in the UK to build people's trust in the justice system.
During the visit, Chief Justice Le Minh Tri also worked with Judge Richard Snowden, Senior Judge of the UK Court of Appeal, to exchange experiences in developing a specialized court law at the International Financial Center.
Judge Snowden and his colleagues shared many in-depth contents on the draft law on specialized courts at the Vietnam International Finance Center to ensure the uniqueness of specialized courts compared to other courts such as the professional qualifications of judges, the issue of law application, the language used in trials, and the order and procedures of litigation.

At the meeting with Mr. Alastair King, Mayor of the London Financial District, Chief Justice Le Minh Tri emphasized that the Vietnamese government in general and the Supreme People's Court in particular hope that the London Financial District will continue to support Vietnam on the path to becoming a strong and modern international financial center.
Mayor King discussed with the delegation the activities of the London Financial District, affirming his willingness to share experience, advise and cooperate with Vietnam in applying English common law, which has a long history, helping to reduce costs and handle disputes effectively.
Chief Justice Le Minh Tri's visit took place in the context of the two countries' relationship continuing to develop strongly in traditional areas of cooperation such as politics-diplomacy, trade-investment, education-training, and expanding to new areas such as energy transition, finance-banking, and high technology. The visit ended successfully, actively contributing to promoting and deepening the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership in general and the relationship between the two countries' Supreme Courts in particular.
