Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that the Ministry requires schools to adjust their admission combinations, putting the interests of candidates first.
As Tien Phong reported, this year, some schools training in social sciences and humanities have eliminated the C00 admission combination (Literature, History, Geography). Notably, most of the majors that have stopped recruiting this combination are hot majors with top benchmark scores such as Journalism, Public Relations, Law, and Psychology.
According to a representative of one of the schools that stopped considering admission for the C00 combination, in previous years the school had 2 admission programs for this combination. Each program had a few dozen quotas. Because the number of students was not large, the school stopped considering admission and announced it at the beginning of the school year.

Whether announced at the beginning of the school year or just announced, students' selection of admission combinations is oriented from grade 10 (3 years ago). According to the 2018 general education program, the high school program is career-oriented, in addition to 4 compulsory subjects, students can choose the remaining subjects for career orientation.
That is why, there are students who do not have to study Biology or History for 3 years of high school... When schools suddenly brake and turn around at the last minute, students completely lose their chance of being admitted.
According to the reporter's records, last year, the number of candidates taking the C00 exam group accounted for the largest proportion of all university entrance exam groups. For example, in 2024, about 700,000 candidates taking the high school graduation exam chose subjects in the C00 group out of about 1 million candidates taking the exam.
However, the majors that are recruited through this combination are not diverse, only concentrated in a few schools that purely train in social sciences and humanities such as Law, Journalism, 2 Universities of Social Sciences and Humanities of 2 National Universities, some majors of Pedagogical Universities, Trade Union Universities, Social Labor Universities, etc.
In each major of these schools, there are many training combinations. For example, the Journalism major of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), the quota for group C00 is only 20-30 candidates in some years, while the number of candidates registering is up to thousands.
The number of candidates taking the exam is large, the opportunity to study is low, so the benchmark scores for hot majors in the group of social sciences and humanities are often exceptionally high.
Schools that have announced not to enroll in the C00 group in some majors up to now include the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Hanoi Open University, Hanoi National University with 2 schools: Social Sciences and Humanities, Law, Hanoi Capital University, Hanoi University of Procuracy.
