According to Tien Phong Newspaper's reporter, the new school was built on a land area of more than 8,800 square meters, located on the frontage of Binh Long Street (Binh Hung Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). Up to now, the rough part of the school has been completed, the construction items are being rushed. Dozens of workers are working hard in the sun and rain to keep up with the progress. According to Mr. Pham Hoang Khanh, Vice Chairman of Binh Hung Hoa Ward People's Committee, this Tran Dai Nghia Primary School project has a scale of 30 classrooms and modern functional rooms, including one ground floor and three floors. The project is invested by the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Binh Tan District (old), using the city budget. The total investment of the project is more than 156 billion VND. “The project started in May 2025 and is currently completing the rough construction. It is expected to be completed and put into use in February next year,” said Mr. Khanh.
According to Mr. Khanh, after completion, the school will provide learning space for at least 1,050 students, contributing to meeting the increasingly urgent need for schools due to high population growth. The project is designed according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training , with spacious and modern facilities, creating better teaching and learning conditions for students and teachers in the area. This school project is part of the master plan to convert Binh Hung Hoa cemetery into a green urban area, park, educational facilities and social infrastructure. In addition to Tran Dai Nghia Primary School, Binh Hung Hoa ward is planning to build 8 other schools to solve the problem of schooling for children in the area.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City completed two phases of relocating more than 38,500 out of nearly 53,000 graves, with a cost of nearly VND1,500 billion. The cleared land is planned synchronously to serve the community, in which the school project is one of the first items to be deployed.
Ho Chi Minh City is the locality with the largest number of schools and classes in the country, with about 3,500 public schools and more than 2,528,789 students in the 2025-2026 school year, including preschool, primary, secondary and high schools. Although the city guarantees 100% of school places, many classes are very crowded and overloaded. The main reasons are identified as a lack of teachers, a lack of schools and pressure on student numbers in some rapidly developing areas.
