In the heart of Thach Ha district, a land rich in a tradition of academic excellence, stands a school that has persistently kept the flame of knowledge burning for six decades. It's a journey of countless generations of dedicated and devoted teachers, of students yearning for excellence, and of pride in a school named after the hero Ly Tu Trong.

These days, the campus of Ly Tu Trong High School is more vibrant than usual as it welcomes back generations of teachers and alumni to celebrate the school's 60th anniversary. Firm handshakes, nostalgic glances, and stories that flow along the stream of memories have revived a proud six-decade journey.

In 1966, amidst the fierce war, Ly Tu Trong High School was established in Thach Tien commune, Thach Ha district (formerly). Despite the destructive bombing, the aspirations for learning of generations of students here remained strong. From the first classes with 9 teachers and 146 students, temporarily held in village communal houses, private homes, and simple thatched huts, the journey of teaching and learning began amidst countless difficulties. Over the years, the teaching staff and student numbers have continuously increased and developed, gradually affirming the school's position. Even in the pouring rain, scorching sun, and the roar of bombs, the voices of teachers lecturing and students studying continued to resonate regularly.

In the memories of many generations, the image of the "classroom in the trenches" has become a special symbol of the school. When the air raid siren sounded, teachers and students rushed down to the shelters. When the bombing subsided, everyone returned to the classroom, brushed the dust off the desks and chairs, picked up the fallen chalk, and continued their unfinished lessons. It was during those difficult times that the spirit of overcoming adversity to study was sown and became an indispensable part of the school's tradition.

During those turbulent times, the school's history also recorded a painful memory: August 19, 1968, amidst the bombing raids, when 16 students lost their lives. In the midst of loss and sorrow, the flame of knowledge remained burning. Teachers not only taught academics but also ignited patriotism, unwavering determination, faith in the future, and a thirst for learning in each student.
During those years, Ly Tu Trong High School was truly an " educational front" in wartime – where teachers were soldiers, students were troops, and books and pens were the weapons to preserve and illuminate knowledge. From simple classrooms, from notebooks still smelling of smoke and dust, countless generations of students have grown up, carrying with them the knowledge and patriotism of their country as they entered life, continuing the school's proud journey.

Sixty years have passed, and along with the development of the homeland and the education sector, Ly Tu Trong High School today has taken on a new, spacious and modern appearance.
The school currently has 39 classes with over 1,600 students and more than 100 staff, teachers, and employees. The school has been invested in with a system of sturdy classrooms, subject-specific rooms, a library, a multi-purpose hall, and technological infrastructure to meet the teaching and learning needs in this era of innovation. More than all these tangible changes, what gives the school its enduring vitality is the dedication of generations of teachers and the unceasing desire for learning of its students.

Throughout the school's development, the mark of dedicated teachers has always been present, like a persistent flame illuminating the noble cause of "nurturing future generations." From Mr. Tran Van De – the first principal who laid the foundation for the school – to subsequent generations of leaders such as Mr. Quach Vinh Loc, Mr. Than Van Lu, People's Teacher Le Duc Quy, Mr. Chuc Viet Tu, Excellent Teacher Tran Trung Dung, Mr. Dang Quoc Duy, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, Mr. Phan Quang Tan… all have contributed to writing the proud traditions of the school.

Building upon that foundation, today's staff and teachers continuously improve their professional skills, innovate teaching methods, apply technology, and cultivate professional qualities. Thanks to this persistent effort, the school's educational quality is increasingly affirmed. For many years, the school has achieved outstanding results in the high school graduation exam and student excellence competitions. In particular, in the past academic year, 100% of the teachers participating in the Provincial Excellent Teacher Competition won awards – clear evidence of the professional competence and dedication of the teaching staff.

Alongside academic achievement, the school places special emphasis on creative experiential activities, career guidance, and life skills education, helping students develop holistically so they can confidently enter the integrated environment of the digital age.

Throughout its six-decade journey, Ly Tu Trong High School has trained 60 graduating classes, with tens of thousands of students having matured. From this school, many have become scientists , managers, officers, entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers, teachers, and more. All are silently contributing their strength and intellect to shaping the face of their homeland and country today.

In recognition of the enduring contributions of many generations of teachers and students, the school is honored to have been awarded the First-Class Labor Medal and two Second-Class Labor Medals by the State, along with numerous commendations from the Ministry of Education and Training and Ha Tinh province.
"Each student, upon leaving the school, will carry with them a sense of pride in our traditions, and from there, they will continue to strive in their studies and training to contribute to bringing glory to their homeland."
Sharing his vision for development in the new phase, Mr. Phan Quang Tan – Principal of Ly Tu Trong High School – said: The school stated: “The school aims to build a happy, disciplined, creative, and developmental educational environment – where students are not only equipped with knowledge but also nurtured in character and encouraged to contribute. We hope that each student, upon leaving the school, will carry with them pride in our traditions, and from there continue to strive in their studies and training to contribute to bringing glory to their homeland.”

The 60th anniversary of the school's founding (1966 – 2026) is not only an occasion to pay tribute to previous generations, but also a milestone marking the beginning of a new journey of development. Under the roof of the school named after the young hero, the spirit of "Happy School – Discipline – Creativity – Development" continues to be nurtured and spread, becoming a lasting driving force for teachers and students.
Sixty years have passed, but the flame of knowledge still burns brightly under the roof of Ly Tu Trong High School. From here, each generation of students confidently steps into life with a foundation of knowledge, pride, and a desire to contribute, continuing and writing new, glorious chapters for the tradition of this school in the studious Thach Ha region.
