Japanese media reported extensively on President Vo Van Thuong's speech at the Japanese Parliament.

The website of NHK radio and television station posted an article titled: “Speech of the President of Vietnam at the National Assembly: Strengthening cooperation in many fields”, citing the President's statement that, based on the comprehensive strategic partnership, the two countries will strengthen cooperation in many fields, including economy , security, people-to-people exchange and climate change.

According to NHK, in a 20-minute speech at the plenary session of the House of Representatives on the afternoon of November 29, President Vo Van Thuong mentioned the Vietnam-Japan joint statement, which upgraded the relationship between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership and "opened a new page in bilateral relations, meeting the interests of both sides, contributing to peace and stability."

NHK reported that President Vo Van Thuong's speech ended with the call "Together we are determined to build a relationship between the two countries that is truly 'Sincere friends, trustworthy partners, strategic cooperation, sustainable future'" and received warm applause.

Other major Japanese media agencies such as Nikkei, Sankei, Jiji news agency... all reported on the speech of the President of Vietnam at the Japanese National Assembly, in which the President of Vietnam affirmed that Japan is Vietnam's most important economic partner and emphasized the need to build political trust and cooperation in the field of clean energy.

According to Sankei newspaper, President Vo Van Thuong expressed his hope that the two countries will expand bilateral cooperation to new areas such as climate change and digital transformation.

Nikkei newspaper on the morning of November 30 quoted President Vo Van Thuong's statement emphasizing that Vietnam and Japan should cooperate on maritime security and other areas as part of a shared vision on defense cooperation in the next decade.

President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that focusing on maritime security is necessary to respond to non-traditional security challenges, adding that Vietnam supports Japan playing a more important and active role in the Indo-Pacific and Asia-Pacific.

Other activities during President Vo Van Thuong's visit to Japan also received attention from the Japanese media. Japan News on November 29 reported on President Vo Van Thuong's meeting with Japanese families who had hosted the President when he participated in Vietnam-Japan youth exchange programs organized by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997 in Miyazaki Prefecture and in 2011 in Akita Prefecture.

The article quoted President Vo Van Thuong as saying that he was very impressed with the cultural experiences during his time participating in the exchange program, when he was instructed in farming, folk songs, or was shown how to walk on snow by the host family and taught how to cook Japanese food.

Mr. Ikuko Sato, 68 years old, from Akita Prefecture, a member of one of the Japanese families that welcomed the Vietnamese youth to stay, said: “I am very happy to see him return in such an admirable position. I hope to continue welcoming young Vietnamese people when they come to Japan.”

According to Japan News, President Vo Van Thuong affirmed the importance of grassroots exchanges and youth exchanges for the Vietnam-Japan relationship.
