From the hundred-year-old pine trees to the majestic Chu Dang Ya volcano, from the Tay Son Thuong Dao National Monument to the Pleiku Museum - a "historical house" or the Bahnar and Jrai cultural villages imbued with the Central Highlands, from the ancient pagoda in the middle of the immense tea fields to new experiences such as medicinal herbs and durian... Gia Lai appears both rustic and majestic in the Famtrip journey of travel agencies.
These field experiences not only opened up a new perspective on the highland, but also provided a practical basis for all parties to sit down, share and propose at the workshop towards building new, unique and feasible tours for Gia Lai tourism .
Inspiration for new journeys

Sharing after the survey trip, Ms. Huynh Thi Tho, Director of Huynh Le Travel Company, said that Gia Lai possesses a rich and unique cultural heritage with many inspiring stories for tourism development.
“I am very impressed with the Mo Hra-Dap Community Tourism Village and the Sam Phat Farmstay model. Mo Hra-Dap Village has a rustic beauty, imbued with the Bahnar cultural spirit, very suitable for tours to experience indigenous culture. Meanwhile, Sam Phat Farmstay is a durian growing model combining agriculture and eco-tourism exploitation, very unique. From here, you can see the whole view of Ia Ly hydroelectric dam from above, a very different experience,” Ms. Tho shared.

In addition to the two outstanding destinations above that will be added to the Central Highlands discovery routes in the near future, Ms. Tho also highly appreciates Truong Sinh Group - a new destination, providing practical experiences rather than simply sightseeing.
At the same time, she suggested that Gia Lai tourism industry needs to increase promotion, so that travel businesses have clear information when building tour programs, as well as maintain stable operations in community tourism villages to attract not only domestic visitors but also international visitors who love to experience local culture.

Not only stopping at feeling the local identity, many businesses are aiming for new tourism trends, focusing on therapy and healing. Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Lan, Director of Golden Life International Travel Company Limited shared: the goal of participating in Famtrip this time is to find new tourism products, which are in-depth, emotional and touch the spiritual experience needs of modern tourists.
“We used to exploit the routes “Epic of the Blue Sea, Green Forest” or “Up the Forest, Down the Sea”. But after this famtrip, I will complete the tours in a more specialized direction, aiming at therapeutic tourism products, healing tourism - a type that is increasingly attracting the attention of urban people. The majestic natural space, fresh air, clean food, energy from the forest and the cultural and spiritual values of the Gia Lai wilderness are very suitable factors to develop tours “back to nature, touching the soul”, Ms. Lan said.

“ Laying the foundation” for inter-regional products
With a strategic perspective, some businesses emphasize the seasonal advantage to create four-season itineraries for Gia Lai tourism. Mr. Truong Quang Khai, Director of KMK Tourist & Event Tourism Company, said: “The low season of highland tourism (rainy season) is the peak season for summer tourism. On the contrary, when the sea enters the cold season, the Gia Lai plateau enters the most beautiful season of the year with brilliant natural scenery. This is a natural advantage to build year-round tours, so that visitors to Gia Lai will have valuable experiences in any season,” Mr. Khai analyzed.
From that reality, he hopes that after this survey, KMK Tourist as well as businesses can soon build inter-route products, connecting the two marine-forest ecosystems. In particular, prominent destinations such as Chu Dang Ya volcano or hundred-year-old pine trees with unique landscapes will be potential options for upcoming dry season tours.

In addition to new product ideas, some travel agencies also pointed out destinations that could soon be implemented in practice. After the survey, Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Sen, Director of Vietravel Binh Dinh, said that Gia Lai's tourism potential is huge, but to create truly attractive products, it requires serious investment in terms of time, effort, intelligence and finance.
Ms. Sen commented: “First of all, to build an effective joint tour, it is necessary to clearly identify the target customers to design suitable products. After 2 days of surveying, I found that the earliest place to deploy is the Tay Son Thuong Dao relic site. This is a very attractive and meaningful destination, and at the same time, it is also the closest and most closely connected link between the two regions of the upper and lower regions.”
However, she also frankly said that this destination needs investment to improve its content and experience. “Currently, the narration is still dry and uninspiring. There needs to be an engaging storyteller who can evoke emotions. We should even re-stage the martial arts performance to recreate the spirit of the Tay Son army - that will make a greater impression on visitors,” Ms. Sen suggested.

Not only from the business side, representatives of the Associations also acknowledged that this is a “golden” time to shape a new tourism image for the province. Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh, Chairman of the Gia Lai Tourism Association (formerly) recognized the Famtrip as a very dynamic and timely action, creating motivation for product innovation right after the merger.
Mr. Thanh commented: “In the near future, there will certainly be unique tours combining the forest and the sea - a journey to experience two ecosystems. Only through practical surveys will businesses have the basis to create new products, ready to introduce to the market. Differences in the way of doing things between coastal and highland businesses are inevitable, but will gradually be eliminated. The Association will act as a bridge for the parties to cooperate, creating real and attractive products.”

Sharing the direction from the state management side, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai, said that this Famtrip program is the first step to concretize the tourism development strategy in the new space after the merger. "The new space has opened up many favorable conditions to develop potential types of tourism, from marine eco-resorts to forest eco-tourism, cultural-historical tourism and especially community tourism imbued with the identity of the Central Highlands people," Ms. Chung said.
Through the field survey, the Department hopes that travel businesses will have more basis to connect and build unique and attractive tourism routes, thereby exploiting, promoting and serving tourists in the coming time. This is also an opportunity to spread indigenous cultural values, contributing to positioning Gia Lai tourism image on the national and regional tourism map.
